I was trying to watch the first episode of Tulsa King in the Paramount+ (PP) app (which is really just a reskinned MS Edge.) I *pay* for PP every month, as I do for many, many other services.
However, it refused to stream unless I ALLOWED THE SITE TO TRACK ME (it's not just tracking on PP, the implication is that it's going to track wherever else I go on the net as well). WTF?? I'm not on "free" Reddit, I already pay you for the entertainment.
I'd rather they just raise the price, but our data is more valuable to them. F*@# I hate these trends.

This is where Congress should step in, but they won't

especially when most all TV's are made in China and rebranded. Can you imagine any pre 1980 POTUS allowing the Commies this access?

It's MTV/NBCUniversal, not the Chinese. I should have clarified, it's on my Windows 11 PC, and the app is direct from the Microsoft App Store.

To clarify
The hardware comes from China with built in spyware you can not disable
The software is US companies that do the same
They are in bed together.

That's odd, I do not have the same problem.
If you're that worried about being tracked, don't you already have a VPN set up?
Do you pay for/receive Paramount+ as part of a bundle?

Pay for it on its own. Hulu is annoying about needing my location while I'm using it, but that's just annoying as an anti-fraud measure. Telling me you need to permit tracking (turn off Adblock Plus) so you can track my movements across the Internet is ridiculous from Paramount.
Overall, anything associated with NBCUniversal and technology seems to blow, hard. I'm probably a rare case watching this stuff on a PC and not using Roku or similar, but these guys are total implementation amateurs.
