The sweet spot for bourbon is 6-10 years. Anything older your just starting to pull the tannin out of the wood in the barrel. Bourbon is made from new oak barrels. The char is were the flavor comes from. Scotch is made in used bourbon barrels and is why it has to sit in them for years and years to get any flavor.

The whole age thing for bourbon is just to make you spend a lot of money on crap.

Agree to a certain extent. I think 8-12 is the perfect age. Weller 12 is the Shitt. But Pappy 15 is the Master.

How is the Boss Hogg? Never had it. Really like the the Whistle Pig 10 year. Taste like butterscotch. I like it better than the 12 and 15. By the way, you have some good friends

I’m not a huge rye fan, there are only a few I like. However the boss Hogs are on point. I have iv-vii. Haven’t opened the vi yet. The vii is second fav behind the iv.

Eh I disagree. There are plenty of 10+ years that are hands down better than their younger mashbills.

Not drinking for a week or so. Spent too much time eating and drinking with family in Ohio for the past week. But did pick up plenty of owa’s for trades here in Georgia

I partook in some Woodford Double Oaked tonight. For a non Allocated bourbon it was tasty! Would recommend. Cheers Mates.

I just recently discovered Smoke Wagon, and I've fallen in love with it. The small batch is really good. If you've not tried it, I would highly recommend.

For the price, I’ll take Evan Williams single barrel any day.
