Apparently some ex con is healin folks in Pulaski County with some Central American shaman drug.
For many centuries, indigenous tribes in the Amazon basin have been brewing a plant-based medicinal drink known as Ayahuasca. This herbal medicine is potent entheogenic tea which has hallucinogenic properties that some say is useful for confronting any kind of trauma or illness that has been stored in the body and the mind.
This experience allows each individual who drinks it to heal and recover in a much faster way that is still not seen with conventional forms of therapy.

It is DMT, right? I think that is the psychoactive drug contained in the tea.

So is it more like sweat lodge mind altering drug or something you can take more often like shaman prozac?

"Prior to the ceremony, participant are instructed to abstain from Spicy foods, red meat and sex. The ceremony is usually accompanied with purging which include vomiting and diarrhea, which is believed to release built up emotions and negative energy. "
Oh, fun times right there !

This is another example of modern science finally catching up to the wisdom of our clergymen.
It's not too long ago now that they discovered that these hallucinogenic drugs are often times superior alternatives to modern pharmaceuticals. They have begun trials for using psilocybin to treat severe alcoholism. They have also recently discovered that a single dose of the drug can cure depression for up to 6 months without any known adverse side effects.
I have no doubts that this program will be successful.
ETA: It works by forcing a person to reevaluate the decisions they make and their general outlook on life. It has nothing to do with the hallucinogenic properties, but works from a fundamental basis of how we view ourselves. Forcing people to conquer their demons themselves. Then and there.

there's some herbal doctor/"alternative" doctor lady in Georgia that I've heard about all the way up here in NW Arkansas
many good and intelligent folks swear by her - I have no idea her name or town in Georgia - does that ring a bell with anyone?
