Depends on goals in the losses/wins but yea.
Tie breaker is goal difference the 2nd if that is tied is total goals.
We want Portugal to win and for us to win/draw. Sucks that the games are at the same time.

But if we win or if we tie, it doesn't matter what happens in the other game right?
And if Portugal/Ghana ties, then it doesn't matter what happens in our game right?
In other words, the only way the tie breakers come into play is if the USA loses and there is a winner/loser in the Portugal/Ghana game, right?

yes, the only way tiebreakers come in for the US or Germany is with a loss and a win for either team in the port/ghana game. Hopefully despite the talk germany will just sit back on d against us and play for the draw.

Most likely will happen. Both teams can use this game as a rest day for the most part and try to make sure there arent anymore injuries on either sides and both profit.

I have no doubt that they'll play with a minimum of four defenders, possibly a fifth and both sides will only have one attacker.
This will be a boring game.

Its so stupid we are playing the same time as Ghana v Portugal. Id be glued to that game also if it was before ours.

they do that because of germany taking a knee in a match in 1982 to get the results they wanted

We're going to play defense heavy and they usually don't even bother fielding a striker. Similarly, they won't want to make a mistake. Taking a tie, resting and moving onto the next round with no drama is much better than risking anything.

What sickens me is that it's possible.
Portugal isn't going to just lie down and take it, though.
They're going to play that game as hard as possible, and I just don't think Ghana will fare better than we did.

if that happens we should bomb Germany, Portugal and Ghana. Id be ok with a nuke for Ghana since it would be 3 straight cups

a portugal win wouldn't be the worst thing as long as it was only one goal. Ill just hope they tie, i could see the dirty Ghana players tearing apart CR's knee at some point in the game.

Both teams are pretty damn dirty. Portugal was flopping like fish yesterday. I guess it's par for course for them, but what a boring style of soccer.
"Making a run at goal? At first contact, fall down, pretend to be hurt, plea with the referee."

Except that we've already said we aren't playing for a draw. Germany not playing a striker hasn't stopped them from scoring 6 goals in 2 games.

You believe everything you hear on television? Both teams are going to play this -safe-. They had something to prove against Portugal, and then drew a team we beat in Ghana. (Similarly, we drew a team they beat, but they were fighting for survival and really lucked out.)
Jurg talks a lot of shite, but he's not stupid. He may attack a lot, if only to keep the ball in their side of the field, but we'll be playing with tons of players ready to scream back to defense if needed.
