They do have two players better than any we have in Hazard and Kompany (if he plays). The line isn't surprising.

Any thoughts on the Swiss v Argentina tomorrow? I could see the Swiss pulling it off.

I don't blame anyone for not taking us seriously yet, either. We haven't really done much except lose by 1 to Germany and tie Portugal...okay, maybe that's a better resume than beating South Korea, Algeria and Russia, but still.

And I can definitely see Argentina slipping against the Swiss. They had an unbelievably easy bracket and barely made it out alive against subpar competition.

I thought I read yesterday Kompany is definitely out tomorrow.

Does Altidore start or will he be a sub?

I really have no idea, I don't think anyone knows at this point.

My guess is he'll wait until the second half to sub him out, or earlier if it gets ugly quick.

Algeria playing rough, but this is by far more boring than France/Nigeria. Germany seeking to just control the ball, death by a million cuts.

And a crazy challenge by the German goalkeeper. Won a corner.

Goal taken away from Algeria because of an offside.

A fraction, but Algeria is threatening early. Germany needs to take this game seriously.

Near goal by Algeria, very, very near goal. A fraction off to the side and it'd be 1 - 0.

I think Germany may be hung up on their own hype, but once they settle down they'll probably start dominating.

Probably.

The only player that showed up for Argentina so far is Messi. Granted, that's one hell of a player to have show up, but I don't think he can carry them through on his own at this point.

Quality opening stanza to the second half. Germans have all they want and more here. Goalie almost screws the pooch for Germany. Then almost hits a goal on the fly route. Figure Algeria is going to try to catch the Germans on the counter and hope they can hold the organization at the back. They've looked great so far, but keeping the Germans from scoring isn't an easy task.

Germans pounding the right flank on offense. Starting to get some decent runs in the box.

Algeria starting to look threatening. Still lacking that last bit of brilliance to finish the job. Just like any proper African side.

ETA: You can't be this wasteful and beat Germany.

The German goalie is all over the place. Great runout to save the day against an Algerian break.

Going into stoppage time now...still 0-0.
