I posted this in the MSB thread:

I don't really understand why all the hate for Kidd. I mean I could see it if you are a Nets fan but other than that I don't understand why everybody's so damn butthurt.
Kidd knows exactly what's about to happen in Brooklyn. They're about to take a hard nose dive. They're cap space is fricked and they aren't getting any better. I thought he did a pretty good job with a average team this year.
He played all the right cards and made his way to a Milwaukee team that is young and has a lot of upside (can't believe I just typed that).
The only thing he really fricked up is what all of you have alluded to in reference to coaching being a fraternity and I do kind of feel bad for Larry Drew. That being said, it is a business and not a charity case. If the Bucks like Kidd more than Drew they have every right to fire him. He'll still be getting a check so it's not like we should all feel that sorry for him (and he'll most likely land another gig soon, whether it be a HC or AC).

Let's Discuss,
Potential Lakers Lineup:
Bledsoe (or wait, Kyrie next year)
Bryant
Lebron
Randle
Monroe (or wait, Love next year)
Would you rather go after Bledsoe and Monroe this year, or wait for Kyrie and Love next year? Obviously if you get the opportunity you go after Lebron now. (I've well documented my disdain for Melo here I think

I'm torn on it.
Part of me wants to build a team with young talent the traditional way.
The Laker part of me says go find yourself some established stars and when a title dammit.
But I guess it's about the same either way.

I guess the consolation is that if we miss on Lebron this year, is Durants next summer?

Same here. Although I'll admit I'm not as much against bringing in Carmelo as Dawg is.

I don't want melo either.

Why not? I think Melo's game will easily adjust as he gets older with his jump shot and post play.
Speaking of Kyrie

Wait wait wait...
Max Deal? I thought that was like 5 years 100+?
I guess they can negotiate an extension before he becomes a FA, but he would be nuts to sign that motherfricker. I mean jesus you're in Cleveland. At least wait until after Lebron turns them down.

All max deals are different depending on time in the league, whether or not a team offering the contract has Bird Rights and if you're restricted or unrestricted FA. 5 yrs/ $90M is the max extension for a young player like Kyrie.

What do you think about him signing a max deal in Cleveland before testing FA?
Posted on 6/30/14 at 3:04 pm to UMRealist
I would hope not. Surely they would have placed a call before flying up there though...

I'm sure he will listen but I would be beyond stunned I he doesn't at the very least test the market. It would be a horrible business decision.

Kyrie is not going anywhere.
A Julius Randle Kevin Love frontline would be the worst defensive frontline like ever.
Just saw this on twitter by the way

Kobe Bryant has already called LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.
quote:
"The Lakers had this idea where they could clear enough [cap] room where they could get [LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony] but then they’d only play for $16 million per year. I don’t think that was ever that realistic. Plus, Kobe [Bryant] was going to have to sell them [on the idea] and say, “It would be just like the Olympic team where I play defense and you guys be the stars.” [Kobe] actually did that. He actually did call both of them and talked to them about it but the sense I get is that neither of them are playing for $16 million each … I think all of this is just these guys having leverage. I think Melo goes back to New York and LeBron goes back to Miami."
