I'm not in love with Doc Rivers as everyone else is. Doc won his championships due to a big 3, why is that knock against Spo?

Doc Rivers big 3 avg age = 34
Eric Spolstra big 3 avg age = 29

I'm a big fan of Thibs, but he enjoys running his players into the ground a bit too much for my liking

I think Thibs is a great coach, but I haven't looked at the minutes to understand the whole running players into the ground thing everyone keeps talking about.

I would honestly have Pop and Carlisle in a tier of their own. I think those are easily the two best in the league right now.

Pop is head and shoulders above any other coach in the NBA right now. Not even close.

He also had the luxury of a PG dropping triple doubles in the playoffs

And they went to 4 finals and won two of them.

Don't forget that Doc wasn't considered a great coach till the big 3 came together in Boston.

Yeah but those rosters that he had prior to that were garbage. Phil Jackson couldn't have taken those teams to the playoffs.

Very True.

I understand that. I'm not discounting what the team did, I'm just saying it sure as hell wasn't because Spolstra carried them there. He probably got in the way more than he helped them.

No way.

Go back and watch some of their games from 2010/11 and even 11/12. Spoelstra flipped who they are in the playoffs v Indiana in 2012. On the fly in a conference semifinals, he put James at the 4 and inserted Battier into the starting lineup v Hibbert/West. That was revolutionary at the time. Not many coaches have the creativity or the stones to make that type of move when failure means a pink slip.

I just don't believe putting Lebron (who matches up physically with every 4 in the league) at PF is revolutionary.

Agree to disagree about Spolstra.

Doc Rivers big 3: 2 Finals, 1 win
Spo big 3: 4 Finals, 2 wins

Yeah...

@AlexKennedyNBA 3m This is really bad for Joel Embiid. Yao Ming's issues were with his navicular bone. That's where Embiid's stress fracture is.

I hate this for the kid.

I do now fully expect him to fall to the Lakers and never have a health issue again.

If it is true that they turned down Boston's offer, then why take this one? Ours was a better deal for them.

They probably really wanted a young dynamic player like Thompson but I don't understand why Minnesota would be willing to take on Lee's albatross of a contract.

He was very vocally upset about losing Mike Miller. I think he is afraid of Arison being cheap.

Thompson is going to go for a max contract according to his agent.
