Entergy swapped out my electric meter yesterday.
Jokingly asked the guy if they’ll be able to scan from a vehicle and wouldn’t have to walk.
He said it’ll be done by satellite. Won’t even need meter readers.
More lost jobs and higher profits for the electric company?

I'm surprised electric and water companies aren't already using tech to beam the info to them instead of manually doing it.

Just a matter of time.

If I cover it in aluminum foil will it stop the cancer and satellite from reading it?

Nah. You have to encase it in lead.

Plant some trees nearby and wrap the meter on several sheets of aluminum foil. You should have free electricity for a while then.

House is sitting under some big oak trees
Thought about foil but maybe there is an automatic shut off if the satellite can’t read the meter.
Then a hefty reconnect fee.

... Thank you for those nightmares. "Well we just had teeny, tiny, little... glitch in the system. But rest assured we we will have power restored to a third of the country in a couple of days."
