Like the title mentioned. I am moving to Charlotte in the next few months. Looking for advise on where to look to live and places/bars to go to for SEC sports/football.
Will be working west of Charlotte for the first few months, but then the office will be located in South Park.
Any adviCe would be appreciated.
Have a dog would like to find a good spot to train/work her out for duck season and need to find a place to play pick up basketball.

Love Charlotte, but it was 2000 when I lived there and it has changed a LOT since then. I lived not far from South Park in Cotswold. Spent a lot of time in Moosehead Grill.

Although I don't know what type of work you do, if it involves an form of writing, remember:
You give or receive adviCe.
You advise someone.

Thanks for the adviCe....but you may also want to think about your spelling as well.
"if it involves ANY form of writing."
for the worlds sake I hope neither one of us are writers.

If you open a map, draw a triangle from South Blvd (South End) to Central Ave (Plaza Midwood) down to South Park. This is where you want to live, everywhere else in the city is a shite hole pretty much.
South End is probably where you want to live, it's full of nice apartments, it's pretty walkable, most people are well-off 20/30 somethings. It is on the rail line so if you want to get to uptown for something it's a 5 min ride. It would be close to your office. The area east of that (Dilworth and Elizabeth) is the hospital district, lots of houses and families, so if you are wanting a house probably look there. Across 74 from Elizabeth is Plaza Midwood, which is also a nice neighborhood of well-off 20/30 somethings. It was gentrified in the 2000s, so it's more artsy or hipster, where South End is more yuppie. Both have fantastic food and nightlife though, so it just depends what you'd rather be able to walk to (you can always Uber, they're 5 mins apart). I don't know specifically the housing situation nearer to South Park, but some of the nicest neighborhoods in Charlotte are around there, so I'd assume there's not much that is affordable.

I hear the trailer park where Ric Flair lives has some nice single-wide rental units.

Solid post.
Except this part:
Most everywhere else in the city is mid to upper mid class suburbia. The real shitholes are west of South End.
Anything inside the triangle is great for a 20s/30s single person.

South end, Dilworth, South Park area are all great. Elizabeth and NoDa aren’t bad. Stay away from Sugar Creek north of town and everywhere west of I77 and you’ll be good.
Charlotte is growing like crazy. Several good breweries, have NFL and NBA, and a really nice triple A baseball stadium. You’ll enjoy it there.

My parents live in South Charlotte and that seems to be the consensus. It's a pretty cool city that is growing more and more daily it seems. Always something new every time I visit. And crime for a big city is virtually non-existent there.

Thanks for the help. Getting out of Baton Rouge so itll be a nice change of pace up there.

Charlotte had around 100 murders in 2017, but that is still probably lower than Baton Rouge which is 1/4 the size.
