You'll still be slow from having your brain under the influence at least once per day. That's going to wear on you as you get older. Any form of addiction is not good. Getting THC in your system every day doesn't make you dumber, but you'll watch yourself get slow. And let's not pretend it doesn't have some effect on your lungs over time.

It might be the case that people who abuse cannabis products are far more likely to have other risk factors. Do they also drink too much, get too little exercise, and eat a diet rich in fatty foods? All of that will do the trick. There may also be some causation. At this point we don't have enough evidence one way or the other to make the call.
Well said

I'd say, based on a bit of research, that the odds of you keeling over if you light up a bowl on the weekend doesn't look to be too high.
Quality play on words there

Did house cats evolve to use catnip or is a fluke of hereditary that it has an effect on some of them? We know, oddly enough that alcohol effects a ton of species. Elephants get drunk. Did they evolve to use it or does it work on receptors within the Mammalian cortex?
There are no alcohol receptors, so nothing adapted to using alcohol. Bodies treat it like the poison it is

Studies have shown that cats and dogs can get "stoned"... they just react very poorly to it. Our primate cousins can get stoned. I do not think chimps were rolling a fatty for their big pimp daddy back in the day.
Your bias in assuming other animals don't enjoy is way off, as is your presumption they'd have to light it on fire to get the effects.

There are probably all sorts of weird plants out there that we would react to. If they haven't gone extinct by now.
I'd bet 0 of them have multiple receptor types, found in all their major organs though.
