I'm actually a decent carpenter around the back yard and such

I never have a good eye for circular saws. I always buy the shitty ones somehow.

I have one damn good handsaw. Pretty much one of these baws...

You don’t just meet the full qualifications as a Carpenter right out of the blocks from day one on the job.

You’d probably have to “pay your dues” as a “helper” and then likely an “apprentice

Harry…your best bet to break into that kind of work is to start at some kind of entry-level position such as being as a “Base

a yard deck I've "been building" for over three years now

ETA: I've built 4 yard fences in years past

3 normal yard fences, 1 was a doggy fence about 3 feet high (wiener dogs). (side job for some cash while making crap money upon my entrance into evil corporate America). I was working backup for a home improvement friend.

The wife watching me build the doggy fence loved me, and we almost had an affair at least 2 times while her douchebag husband was at work. She was HOT and about 7 or 8 years older than me. But she was SMOKING!

The douchebag husband saw the progress on the fence over the course of a week, and never said anything. She liked it. Then when the fence was done he complained he didn't like it.

I'm not proud of the almost affair, but it was what it was. I held back. It would have been...An Out of Control, Raging Fire

Carpenters also need “Bases” just like framers do.

It’s a versatile & and valuable skill-set that’ll open up plenty of employment opportunities for you in both trades.
