While one can be both, you don't have to be, and ISIS specifically hates both things.

What an asshat. Nobody is congratulating him on being right for a terrorist act.
Still better than the alternative though. Damn it.
It should be of no surprise that the Donald took this oppurtunity to make the situation about him. You predicted a terrorist attack? Well good fricking job Nostradamus!

Which makes him the person this country needs to go after these bastards and to secure our own borders here at home.
We need a prick in office that has the balls to do and say shite that isn't politically correct.

No, what we need is a true leader capable of crossing party lines and willing to piss off his own constituents to do what is right and needed.
Unfortunately, we don't have one of those to choose from. This is by far the worst set of candidates ever in my life.

He's just saying what he thinks will get him elected. The only person he cares about is himself, and all he wants is power.

I don't care if he wants power. If you think he is more power hungry than the Clinton family, you should do some research. The Clintons will do whatever it takes, cover up whatever they can, in order to be the most powerful people in the world. They've done it time and time again.
While you may not like Trump, he will strengthen our military and he will help the economy here. Those two things are badly needed over the next four years more than anything else.

I don't think our military needs to be strengthened and it's debate able if he'd do anything to help the economy.

I'd rather have a disingenuous guy who is hard on our enemies than a smiling pantsuit who's only out to stop the type of weapon our enemy kills us with.

It badly needs strengthening. Like, in the worst way in my lifetime.

Id rather have him representing me at a business meeting than Hillary Rodham Clinton.

We spend more on military than the next 20-30 (sorry, don't know the exact number but it's huge)countries combined. The vast majority of which, are our allies.

Our Army is the weakest it has been since the 1970's
Our Air Force is at less than 50% compared to 1991 when the Gulf War started
Our military has fallen behind other countries and their technology.

And yet we still spend more than anyone else on it, and by a large margin.

Which countries?

I'm all for saying whatever you want but imma need a link on this one.

If that's true, which I highly doubt it is, then the problem obviously is not that we don't spend enough

As a result of sequestration in FY 2013, the Army experienced a shortage in readiness funding that resulted in “significantly and rapidly degraded Army readiness,” which the Secretary of the Army and the Army Chief of Staff testified would “translate directly into FY 14 and beyond.”39 Although a higher level of funding in FY 2014 allowed for some degree of budget relief, the Army received $5.1 billion less in funding dedicated to rebuilding its readiness in FY 2015.40 Army Vice Chief of Staff General Daniel Allyn explained that:
[T]o operate under this budget, we are significantly reducing key installation services, individual training events, and modernization to such an extent as to jeopardize future readiness and quality of life. For example, Logistics Readiness Centers were underfunded by $350 million in FY15, which covers funding for dining facilities, contract operations at ammo supply points, central issue facilities, maintenance, laundry and dry cleaning operations. In addition to the effect on Soldier quality of life, these cuts force Commanders to divert Soldiers from training to perform logistics tasks.41

Overall U.S. Army Score: Weak
The Army’s overall score is calculated based on an unweighted average of its capacity, capability, and readiness scores. The average score was 2.3; thus, the overall Army score is “weak.” This was derived from the aggregate score for capacity (“weak”); capability (“marginal”); and readiness (“weak”).
Air Force
quote:
Due to the constrained fiscal environment of the past few years, the Air Force continues to prioritize capability over capacity. The force also has made clear that near-term reductions will be made in lift, command and control, and fighter aircraft to ensure that its top three modernization programs—the F-35A, Long-Range Strike Bomber (LRS-B), and KC-46A—are preserved.5 The USAF is now the oldest and smallest in its history, and the problem is growing as the demand for air power continues to grow.6 For FY 2015, the Air Force was granted an authorized end strength of 312,980 active airmen, 67,100 reservists, and 105,000 guardsmen.7 Between the active and reserve components, it fields 5,433 aircraft in the total active inventory (TAI),8 including 54 total fighter squadrons.9 In the active component, the Air Force retained 40 combat coded squadrons during FY 2015.10
The Air Force’s capacity in terms of number of aircraft has been on a constant downward slope since 1952.11 Unlike some of the other services, the Air Force did not grow during the post-9/11 buildup.12 Rather, it got smaller as older aircraft were retired and replacement programs, such as the F-35, experienced successive delays in bringing new aircraft into the fleet. This reduction in capacity is expected to continue in the future because of ongoing budgetary pressure. Under BCA-mandated spending caps, the Air Force would shrink to 26 tactical aircraft (TACAIR) squadrons,13 a far cry from the 133 active fighter squadrons during Operation Desert Storm.14

Why do you need 133 active fighter squadrons?

"Given the past three years of reduced funding, coupled with the uncertainty of future funding, the Army risks going to war with insufficient readiness to win decisively," acting US Secretary of the Army Patrick Murphy and Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley told the House Armed Services Committee in a joint statement.
Murphy and Milley maintain that "less than one third of Army forces are at acceptable readiness levels to conduct sustained ground combat in a full spectrum environment against a highly lethal hybrid threat or near-peer adversary." This is how US military officials refer to Russia and China.

America's "enemies and potential adversaries have not stood idle," Gen. Robert B. Neller, the 37th Commandant of the Marine Corps. "They have developed new capabilities which now equal or in some cases exceed our own."

I don't know...maybe because Russia has nearly 16,000 tanks on the ground. Possibly because China has nearly 19million people reaching military age each year. Where the US only has about 2 million reaching military age each year.
Posted on 6/13/16 at 9:56 am to Hawgeye
Who are they going to attack with those tanks?
