How Do you Play War

Had no idea there were so many different ways people play.

When both players play the same card, how do you determine the war?

We always played the best of the three with the cards facing up.

If the cards are the same rank, it is War. Each player turns up one card face down and one card face up. The player with the higher cards takes both piles (six cards).
