Do you have to cuddle the cows or how do you keep them warm?
Funny you should ask.

I took the JD Gator to the lot this morning and grabbed a baby that was born this morning in 19 degree weather. Baby is shivering and we are warming it up with towels and hair dryers before we take it back to its mother.

So, cuddles?
He got a lot of towel rubbing. Probably thought he was at a day spa.

Can't do that it's hard enough trying not to get attached to them and knowing they will get sold next fall.

In that case name the baby Bevo.
Glad she had her calf now instead of Tuesday with that storm and windchill. Gonna be nasty.

That name may work I would never feel guilty about selling it with that name.

Im in North Central OK and dreading that storm. I have 10 in my calving lot that can calve anytime and 90 more that should start in 5 days and over the next couple of months. I have 15 on the ground so far this past 2 weeks so its that busy crazy time of year for me.

Morning.
Today is errand day because I am not going out on the roads after the winter storm hits. People are bad enough drivers in pristine conditions. It becomes a demolition derby if there is so much as a flake of snow out there.
Thank you no. The benefit of working from home, I can sit back, watch the news, and sip my Irish coffee.
My recipe for Irish coffee also happens to be the best. You fill the glass up with hot coffee, then pour all of that down the drain, refill with whiskey, and skip the whipped cream nonsense.

G'Morning
Last cow we named as a family unit was my little brothers. He named it Profit because that's was it's job. Of course it died before getting there.
*The oldman stepped up and replaced it so disaster averted and a couple lessons learned.

Morning everyone.
It is a going to suck. I just hope most of it doesn't wind up as ice because then things really get bad. God willing I'll be able to bunker down until the roads are clear here.

Morning All !!
I hate when we get ice. It's 14 degrees here and we have a glaze of ice and some snow. I spent 15 minutes on a ladder this morning thawing out a glazed camera using a paper bag and a hair dryer in one of my cow lots and then covered it with a plastic bag until this passes through.
It's supposed to be in the mid 60's here Monday.

Doesn't covering it defeat the purpose of the camera?

Yes

But its day time so I dont mind running down there a couple time during the day looking them over. Camera had a 1/4 of an inch of ice on it. You couldn't see anything or turn it. It's cold enough it's snowing now and not freezing drizzle so I have it uncovered.
