A farmer stopped by the local mechanics shop...
to have his truck fixed. They couldn’t do it while he waited, so he said he didn’t live far and would just walk home.
On the way home he stopped at the hardware Store and bought a bucket and a gallon of paint. He then stopped by the feed store and picked up a couple of chickens and a goose. However, struggling outside the store he now had a problem – how to carry his entire purchases home.
While he was scratching his head he was approached by a little old lady who told him she was lost. She asked, ‘Can you tell me how to get to 1603 Mockingbird Lane ?’ The farmer said, ‘Well, as a matter of fact, my farm is very close to that house I would walk you there but I can’t carry this lot.’ The old lady suggested, ‘Why don’t you put the can of paint in the bucket. Carry the bucket in one hand, put a chicken under each arm and carry the goose in your other hand?’ ‘Why thank you very much,’ he said and proceeded to walk the old girl home.
On the way he says ‘Let’s take my short cut and go down this alley. We’ll be there in no time..
‘ The little old lady looked him over cautiously then said, ‘I am a lonely widow without a husband to defend me.. How do I know that when we get in the alley you won’t hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt, and have your way with me?’
The farmer said, ‘Holy smokes lady! I’m carrying a bucket, a gallon of paint, two chickens, and a goose. How in the world could I possibly hold you up against the wall and do that?’
The old lady replied, ‘Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the paint on top of the bucket, and I’ll hold the chickens.

Are you worried about this year's winter wheat having this much rain dumped on them so soon after planting?
Posted on 11/19/24 at 8:11 am to Arksulli
I dont harvest my wheat I just have cattle graze it or I end up baling it. I haven't planted any yet in my fields I have only planted in my pastures where the grass is short from being ate off.
We usually have all of our wheat planted in the first couple of weeks in October but this year the weather hasn't cooperated at all.
Morning All !!

Japan would have been a miserable place to campaign for the Mongols. There isn't a large amount of pasture land to feed their horses (the general rule was 3-5 horses for every Mongol rider). There were castles all over the place, not as much as Europe, but more then enough to be a massive pain. Finally the Japanese used very similar tactics to the Mongols.
We all think of the Samurai with their Katanas and ornate armor. What they really trained for, however, was archery, particular horse archery. Most Samurai, despite their popular portrayal in media, weren't very good at swordplay and mostly used them to murder unarmed peasants. Which is why the few who were good with swords racked up big body counts in duels. Miyamoto killed 62 people in duels, including one where, for giggles, he carved up a boat oar to more or less look like a Katana and then beat his opponent to death with it.
The Mongols did have better bows and much better armor, but they were fighting in restricted terrain where the Japanese could unleash the real decisive force in Japanese battles... blocks of pikemen (later blocks of musketeers that wiped out the Samurai) who could pin the Mongols against some feature of the terrain and slowly poke them to death.
Add to that constant threat of bad weather either disrupting supplies... or utterly wiping out your fleet, and Japan was an absolute nightmare to conquer.
Really it mirrored Europe in that whether you won battles or not (the Mongols kicked the living shite out of Europeans) it was miserable territory, there were fortifications everywhere, and frankly Japan and Europe were piss poor back then. A lot of fighting for very little reward.

I often think about how things where with other Army's. How miserable it would have been.
