Good morning
Hope you’re feeling ok, Wildcat.

I'm still good, which makes me nervous. I think the nerve block is still helping me.

But yes, I would love to be outside working on something.

Supposed to be a nice week here this coming week 50' and 60's. Planning on painting gates and the frame work inside the barn. Using Caterpillar yellow.

Glad you're still not fighting any pain yet. Hoping the best for you.

Joke of the Day
The Lone Ranger was ambushed and captured by an enemy Indian war party.

The Indian Chief proclaims, “So, you are the great Lone Ranger. In honour of the Harvest Festival, you will be executed in three days. But, before I kill you, I will grant you three requests. What is your first request?”
The Lone Ranger responds, “I’d like to speak to my horse.”
The Chief nods and Silver is brought before the Lone Ranger, who whispers in Silver’s ear, and the horse gallops away.
Later that evening, Silver returns with a beautiful, naked blonde woman on his back. As the Indian Chief watches, the blonde enters the Lone Ranger’s Tent and spends the night.
The next morning the Indian Chief admits he’s impressed. “You have very fine and loyal horse, but I will still kill you in two days. What is your second request?”
The Lone Ranger again asks to speak to his horse. Silver is brought to him, and he again whispers in the horse’s ear.
As before, Silver takes off across the plains and disappears over the horizon. Later that evening, to the Chief’s surprise, Silver again returns, this time with a naked brunette, even more attractive than the blonde. She enters the Lone Ranger’s tent and spends the night.
The following morning the Indian Chief is again impressed. “You are indeed a man of many talents, but I still kill you tomorrow.
“What is your last request?” The Lone Ranger responds,” I’d like to speak to my horse….ALONE.”
The Chief is curious, but he agrees, and Silver is brought to the Lone Ranger’s tent.
Once they’re alone, the Lone Ranger grabs Silver by both ears, looks him square in the eye and says: “Listen very carefully, you fcuking dickhead, for the last time………. . BRING POSSE!!!!”

Possibly the worst strategic mistake in the modern era, piling one major blunder upon another.

The Japanese, alone among the non-European world, responded to their first (painful) encounter with Westerners (The US) by realizing they had to make radical changes if they were to retain their sovereignty. Only the fact that the US wasn't particularly interested in absorbing Japan had saved them and the Japanese realized that a Western power would, sooner or later, turn its eyes on Japan.

They did so in remarkable time... kind of. In practice they wound up being a Medieval society with heavy industry. But they now could, and did, defend themselves from the Europeans. There was only one problem.

Japan sucks the meat missile when it comes to natural resources. They now had an industrial complex, without the resources to run it. Selling finished goods to their neighbors in exchange for raw materials wasn't an option... either it was China (who hated the Japanese) or colonies of European nations. So they borrowed another policy from the West. Colonial expansion.

And the big pie in the sky was China. Food, minerals, slave labor, China had everything except a lot of oil. The war with China went great... until it didn't. Japan seized the coastal provinces but getting the rest of the country was a step too far. It didn't matter that one Japanese division was a match for several Chinese divisions... the Chinese had a lot of men to throw on the fire.

To make matters worse the US, the one country that had been thrilled to sell Japan natural resources, embargoed oil supplies. A modern military without fuel is worse than an antique army.

In order to finish the conquest of China they needed resources, and European colonies had plenty of those. Even better a tiny affair called World War II had broken out and the Pacific region was, essentially, undefended. But, before they could go on a conquering spree there was still the question of the US. Would America sit back and watch Japan turn the Pacific into their personal property?

Probably not. Japan decided a quick lightning campaign followed by wearing out US resolve would solve all their problems. They were, however, sadly mistaken. Instead of a short colonial war the Japanese found themselves in an existential war. One side or the other was going down... and it was going to be the Japanese.
