Having Muslim friends =/= wanting to live in a city that is 30-40% Muslim. I live in a community with a ton of Indian Muslims right now and they have no fricks to give.

the country side of france would be awesome. I could probably pull off living there if i bought one of the old castles. I would just have to come to terms with living in a muslim infested country. i don't know if i like that

Yes, a large portion of it is and it has beautiful areas all over the country, but there are gross cities, suburbs, industrial towns, and slums like any other major country.
But damn the lavender fields for miles in Southern, France and the coastal towns are just crazy awesome.
I am a 3rd generation French/France nerd, FWIW. Mother is french teacher and we've been a bunch and visited all parts of the country.

Meh. Guess it's a matter of personal preference. I find the coastal towns to be overrated. Nice, Antibes, and such are just not my thing. Beautiful but I prefer Norther France.

That's cool. My boyfriends aunt is a French teacher. She takes a class over there every year. I think his grandmother has visited most of France as well.
I spent two weeks there earlier this year and we're planning a trip back in the near future. I enjoyed Paris and the Bayeux area far more than Southern France though.

Paris is one of my least favorite French cities
I did an exchange program there in high school and it is just too crowded for me.
We rented a house in the summer on a mountain cliff in Aix-en-Provence as a family for a month and it was probably the most breathtaking thing I've ever seen. Lavender fields for miles in one direction and a quaint town in the other rested against a vineyard.

Back to thread topic, people in France are pretty racist against Muslims. I'm trying to say this in a way that doesn't sound racist, but they are thought of in way that is similar to the way low-economic area blacks are thought of in America. Like a "wrong side of the railroad track" mentality.
