gratitude sir.
Back at Ya, Egg. I do not venture into the big city often. Of the three that I mentioned, Bono's, is the only one that does not blanch their ribs before they cook them (at least the store on U.S. 17 in Orange Park doesn't).
Back in the day when Sonny Tillman started Sonny's, in Gainesville, they did not blanch their meat either. He sold out to his largest franchise owners and since then Sonny's name brand has taken a hit.
If you ever find yourself down in Silver Springs, check out Fat Boy's. They still put out some fine Q and have been doing so for around fifty years now.

Well, my buddy was no help. He moved to Savannah 5 years ago, and thinks the Italian place closed when the owner died. He said the best pizza he had there was at Mellow Mushroom. To his credit, he only lived there a year and never really ventured out from his suburban bubble except to go to the beaches.

thanks for trying. you can get mellow mushroom all over the place. not just Florida. its decent though.
what else is there to do in silver springs besides eat BBQ sir.

Egg, are you a pepper eater? If so, you would be doing yourself a disservice if you don't introduce yourself the the "Datil Pepper".
IMO, this is the best hot pepper there is. It is scored #3 on the Scoville scale. LINK You are now right in the heart of Datil Country! Get ya some!!!

I do like me some Chile's. that means peppers. I'll look them up. would they be good infused into tequila for Mexican martinis?

Its not boring once you find your niche. For most young people that will be the beaches, riverside, or south side/town centre.
If you live on the west side, you will probably hate life.

Well, I wouldn't rank it with a can of Castleberrys, but for those who know good bar b que, it doesn't hold up anymore. That's sad because it was once a very good place to eat.

I live at the beach now. most likely moving to riverside soon. I'm about 10 minutes from work now. but think it would be worth the extra 15-20 to move into riverside.

I've been making the trip down there for The Players every year.
I'd highly recommend Bold City and Intuition Ale Works for really good local beer in Jax. Green Room in Jax Beach was a lot of fun as well. All great local breweries.
Kickbacks Gastropub has an amazing selection of good craft beers if you are looking for a bar to try a bunch of beer. It is located near Bold City I believe.

I live in south side and can walk to work in 10 minutes. I used to live south of the city and commuted 40 minutes. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I would rather live at the beach but being close to work is worth it.

I don't know about that! They will light that a$$ up if you aren't careful.
Get a bottle of Datil Pepper Vinegar and try it on food first. Sprinkle a little on shrimp, fish, anything with rice.

didn't say I'd stuff the bottle full of them, just a couple with some hatch chiles. or in a jar of dill pickles for a week or two. makes a damn good pickle with habenjeros or Chile pequines

mole, do you really live in palatka? people in jax talk mad shite about platka.
I was at flies tie and met a chick from palatka. as soon as she said it everyone started making jokes about here wearing her first pair of shoes, told her they didn't have moonshine at the bar etc etc.
fill me in on this thinking.

I would be very proud of her if she had some shine in car.
We are a small blue collar Ag town. The money here is made from timber, cattle & farming, with the Georgia Pacific pulp mill being the largest private employer, followed by two power plants.
In short, we are considered redneck, but that's OK with us. We are a good little town where the men are men and the women are raised in the southern tradition.
A lot of the resentment comes from a once excellent football tradition from our high school(3A). We haven't been very good for about eight years now due to bad coaching, but for forty - fifty years we owned the big schools in Jax. That's left a long lasting nasty taste in their mouths.
What's your opinion of the girl you met? No name please, because I promise you I know her and her parents.
