Bag fee

Fookin' hippies...

quote:

A 10-cent charge would be added for each single-use plastic or paper shopping bag used by a customer at stores that sell food and are larger than 10,000 square feet in size. It would not include produce or meat bags distributed inside a store prior to checkout.

Styrofoam ban takes effect this spring:

Ordering a Route 44 will never feel the same.

Are you saying you’re against more eco-friendly options? For what reason? Pure nostalgia?

Good, it's better for the environment, this isn't the 1960's anymore.

We have much better options.

They aren't just offering more eco-friendly options. They're requiring businesses to use other things instead. I highly doubt plastic Sonic cups will be recycled in any meaningful quantity.

I actually don't care about this all that much, but many small businesses hate it. We have a big food-truck community in Fayetteville, and most of them claim that other take-out containers will cost 5-10 times as much as styrofoam.

This is about attempting to keep litter out of streams (and virtue signaling....LOTS of virtue signaling, which is what Fayetteville city govt excels at currently).

People won't use fewer plastic bags. The environmental impact of "re-usable bags" is much, much more than the plastic bags they are supposed to replace.

It's symbolic, and frick symbolism.

Nonsense, promoting environmental responsibility will, over time, have real impacts.

And ask them to do something meaningful like lobbying the govt to get tough on China's pollution

Naw they aren't interested in that

What in the world are you babbling about?

Are you criticizing citizens of a country for being primarily concerned about what goes on in said country? Do I have that right?

Because they are a pain in the arse. I don't want to have to bring my own bags to the grocery. It's dumb.

Can't read your drivel but I think I'm guessing what your question is

Yes. I'm bashing little pussy leftists for virtue signaling about cups, or bar soap recycling, or whatever other stupid ideas they can be led by the nose on, while not giving a rats arse about China actually polluting the planet

Because they are in it for the virtue signaling

Some plastics are recyclable. Milk and juice cartons usually are. Plastic bags aren’t, at least not via curbside services.

This stuff is really, really easy.

Yea it happened here March 1.
Na I'm not mad about it, I just pay the 5 cents.

Rather that than no bags at all.
