More scary is the influence our financial and insurance industries have within our government. The old FIRE argument, though the RE is real estate and I'm not so sure the real estate industry has that much influence. Maybe replace the restate with the energy and pharmaceutical companies.

The whole point is that even with a remote you're not getting any variety with so much of the media market controlled by so few entities.

Even though you can probably find a channel that has an opinion or viewpoint you agree with, its essentially the other side of a coin with the same shite being talked about everywhere.

Although echo-chambers aren't a new phenomenon (there were partisan newspapers back in the day) the size and scope of them has drastically increased with the 24-hour cable news stations.

Suggesting that consolidation of power in the media market is a trivial matter with zero consequences indicates you're already a lemming
