Go any more stupid shite you want to accuse me of guy who can't figure out the entire political system is rigged and democrats and republicans are basically the same?

I have an extreme right-wing father who parrots the same thing you are and anyone can venture to the poli board on this website and see the same thing. I've yet to hear from anyone I know who is left-leaning who has tried to downplay this virus to the extent that you are. Maybe I'm completely wrong about your political leanings but the attempts from many people to play this off as the common cold are blatantly anti-science and dangerous to the health of the country. The only time I ever see people angrily deny science such as you is when there is political motivation behind it.

Not with the low numbers and incidents in this country right now. First thing if and that’s a big IF will be not counting kids absent if a parent chooses not to send their kid to school. Then that would happen. But it didn’t happen with the other virus that was going to kill us all. And yeah I heard all the others were different then too.

Well I must be your dad right? Project those strawmen!

Let me make it more simple for you: I DO NOT DO POLITICS AT ALL. I 100% ignore it. I have no idea what the current political bullshite narratives are.

Well, other than what you've just exposed me to, which is that apparently only liberals think the virus is a problem. And they must be the bestest political team ever in the history of the sport!

No one is claiming it will kill us all. But it has killed thousands and that number will increase daily for who knows how long. It's very important to contain the spread as much as possible until we have more data/possible treatments.

FTR, most non-radical right-wing/republicans I know aren't like this. I actually read a few articles on Fox News today about CV and there weren't really conspiracies from them either.

I think it's a hardcore Trump fandom thing.

That combined with the fact that the SEC territories haven't been as affected yet, which I guess is why there's a disconnect on this site.

Oh I see, it's a political thread disguised as something else on a sports forum.

You should all go suck a dick.

Why are you so angry? We are just pointing out a trend. Maybe you don't fall under the same umbrella but in general it's what we've seen. You don't seem interested at all in trying to learn or have a reasonable discussion though, you have your viewpoint and you will angrily attack any dissenting thoughts. Sorry that some of us have public health in mind and I'm glad that you were able to get over your case of the flu but many people don't get to say the same thing and I would rather not have the same thing happen with this new virus because some people feel it's nothing to worry about and pass that message on to others.

I really don't have anything to say to political hacks, other than take it to the politics forum.

I'm done with this topic, I should have known better. I knew people were selling something.

And I agree with you on that. We need to take precautions. Had to watch a DHEC( Health and Environmental Control here) session on it the other day. But I’m not like these other two on here and you aren’t either in a hysterical state over this. I have confidence the CDC will figure it out. I trust what I learned from DHEC on this before I do the media.

You still haven’t said if you agree that it’s a major problem in Italy.

I'm not sure what I'm selling here aside from objective data on a significant public health concern.

I agree it shouldn't be political but unfortunately politics are a major source of the downplaying of what in the end could be a significantly more dangerous virus than the flu that as of now has no vaccine or approved treatment. Left, right, apolitical, I don't really care what you are, but please stop spreading misinformation to the people around you that this virus is nothing to worry about at this point in time.

I'm not in a hysterical state. I just believe our country has been reactive instead of proactive.

We have the greatest people and minds of the world, there's no excuse for letting people on a cruise ship knowing full well that it was probably going to have a CV outbreak and get quarantined. Also no excuse for not having tests ready after we failed to sufficiently monitor travel to and from affected areas.

There have been multiple shortcomings and there's no excuse for any more at this point. We can still reduce the impact this will have on our people and economy. Or we can bury our heads in the sand and let it kill a bunch of people and tank our economy.

I think temporary inconvenience is preferable to the latter, don't you?

Yeah and the first case was reported late December in China? Not a MD like the other guy but I think it would take longer than two and a half months for the CDC to come up with a treatment.

What do you suggest? Worry about something that you have no control over?

Sure health officials are saying it’s a concern. It is. But damn we can’t stop the world for something that is not killing people at such a low rate.

Follow the recommendations of the CDC. You’ll be fine.
