Hemp, thanks. He only has a want to go to CC if he can play baseball. He is planning to enroll at Auburn but depending on his season, development and scholarship potential he would go CC or JC to play ball while taking his basic core classes that would transfer and by then if he continues to develop he would try baseball at AU.
He has the build for baseball, he currently plays center and will be the #1 pitcher. His first pen this year he consistently threw 85 (nothing spectactular) hitting his spots. By end of the season he should be @89+ . Both of his coaches pitched in the minors and are working with him on his mechanics. Have changed a few things to help keep arm/elbow stress down. With all that said he needs to hit the cover off the ball this year, if you can't hit then you better be a lefty that throws 90 or you aren't gonna get a lot of looks.
I don't push him, I've always told my kids to play for your own enjoyment, not because you think its what would make his mother and I proud. He works his was off all on his own. I just want him to reach his goala and have a fufilling life/career doing something you like and are proud of doing. He's dreamed of being a helicopter pilot for as long as I can remember. We always thought he would grow out of that but nope, and we're happy he has direction. Older brother not so much.
Thanks again to all who've shared their experiences.

He also wants to go into the military after he graduates(will probably do ROTC) to further his aviation career, which is a whole different discussion.
Tell him to be open to every branch. Pilots are in every service. Also, national guard has scholarships etc to help pay and I've heard you can get pilot slots that way.
ETA: Our baseball team sucks, tell him to walk on at Auburn. He should be able to double a ROTC scholarship, National Guard Scholarship and play since it is external funding

He flew on B-52s so it was AWHILE ago though!
Totally unrelated to the OP's question, but the fact that he was on B-52s doesn't tell anything about age.
They still constitute the largest single type of heavy bomber in USAF service.
If they make it to their currently scheduled retirement date, the type will have served the USAF for 90 years. Here's a story about three generations of the same family that have all flown B-52s.
It is an amazing airplane.
