These threads aren't as fun without the random vote popping up.

American Haggis is crap!

If not prepared by a real Scot (probably over the age of 80) you probably are not eating real Haggis.

What is your unique life experience that we would find interesting?

Could write a book but nobody would believe it. Was at a big charity event with a table of doctors (and wives) from around the country as the guest of a childhood friend. He had me telling stories all night but I had to get up after dinner for a trip to the privy. While I was gone they all told my friend what a delightful and vivid imagination I had in my story telling. He then told them he had know me since diapers and all the stories were true.

While not famous, rich, or good looking but God / Fate / Karma has placed me in historic or unusual places in history. I have always been a grunt and worker bee but wind up in the right place at the right time.

When living in Arkansas I worked on Clinton's run for Governor in 78 and got to know Eddie, Lew, and Broyles early in their careers.

Been to California 3 times in my life, 2 of them during earthquakes. Was also in Kentucky when they had their earthquake in the 70's. Was in Missouri decades ago when it flooded.

Was scheduled to be on a plane but cancelled the day before. It crashed and all lives were lost except 1. I knew about 10% of the passengers who died or their immediate families personally.

Was at Mt Rushmore when they bombed it

Was at Wounded Knee when they shot the Marshall

Had a private audience with the Dali Lama

Was in the car next to one that kidnapped a woman, then went on a grisly killing spree

Was across the street visiting a friend when another kidnapping / standoff occurred

Survived a fire that consumed my family's home

Worked for one of the richest men / families in the US and got to meet several current and future POTUS as well as numerous celebrities and sports stars

My lawyer dated Bear Bryant's daughter when he was at UK and my old man ate chilli with Rupp a lot (has been torn down since)

My old man was seated next to the Queen at a dinner, mom had a private audience with the Pope in Rome at the Vatican, and my next door neighbor went on to a tenure in Congress.

Colonel Sanders made chicken at our house when I was younger (he had a relative living close by).

The owner of an NFL team and my dad were childhood friends.

Strange as all this seems, I was picked by my peers in grade school to be the person most likely to not make their 18 birthday, yet here I am in old age having outlived most of them.

Sadly I have now lost most all of the people I loved but I still get up every day and keep going. Life is tragic and beautiful but well worth the trip. No matter how hard your life is, chances are somebody else has a harder one so keep going and make a difference, no matter how big or how small, while you are living it.

Wow! At first I thought you were describing the movie Forrest Gump!

That really is pretty amazing.

That was just a few things, list is much longer

I can say it has been an interesting life but what I do not get is kids today who do not get out in the world and have experiences their own. Modern Media has done more to cocoon the next generation and drive down their life expectancy. Weird times we are living in.

To make it worse, all these past memories of the greatest generation are dying in nursing homes as kids, grandkids, and great grandkids never call or visit their own family. When I was a kid I grew up on stories of 3 previous generations and first hand tales of the Civil War, and the early history of the last century.

Trains were probably the greatest social invention ever invented.
