While I understand what you are saying, nevertheless, you're coming off as a guy who will never be happy.

I've stated multiple times that I love the series, but that this is causing it to crash. Not because I need it to go exactly the way it was planned but look at it this way: Are you seriously giving Episode 3 writing an A+?

Stupidest light cavalry charge of all time.

All major characters left unscathed, while they sacrificed a few characters that weren't really pivotal to the story and whose arcs have run out.

Little girl with a staff can hold an entire parapet against the undead, trained soldiers including Jaime and Brienne have a more difficult time.

Pretty much threw out any reason for the entire other 7 seasons to have taken place. Three eyed raven for what? Jon being resurrected for what? To frick Khaleesi?

I love the series, will continue to watch it, but this road is a particularly bad one to take considering how most diehard fans are reacting. This was nothing more than fan service to people who really have no real connection with the lore, which is fine -- but now a lot more people are starting to complain after having slept on it.

You sure Arya hasn't had development?

She hasn't had sufficient development to explain how she's the most powerful character in the story now as a kid. Although I have to take back a lot of what I said because apparently the writer's (I use this term very loosely) have said she's magic, so I guess if that's good writing for you guys I have to abscond from the conversation.

I take it for what it is, first of all.

Nitpicking only gets you so far.

We should feel 'blessed' that we have it to complain about.. the way I see it, it's ironic and beautiful that the fanbase has been crushed by 'shitty writing'.. because that's the essence of Game of Thrones.

I know I know, that sounds like an easy way out, just an observation.

The show/books/EVERYTHING has impacted fans so much that in turn, it's becoming what it was always meant to be.

I admire your persistence, it means that it worked.

It encourages me to keep writing. I am happy that we have something like Game of Thrones, but I also feel bad for the writers/developers who created the world and did so much fleshing to have a moment that was done purely for shock with no real reasoning behind it.

They've admitted several times that the Faceless Men are "magic" and that they did it purely because it was "unexpected". However, anyone could see it coming with how much attention they put on Arya the last few episodes.

That aside, and just to move the conversation forward:

Do you guys really think that they expected this kind of backlash and division? In the "making of" documentary on Youtube they seem completely unaware.

They were definitely aware that they weren't going to please everyone. They provided a product for the masses to consume.

No product = no consumption, which = no discussion.

Either way, it's a success if you're vocal in your disagreement/praise.

We measure success very differently, and this is making rewatch value for Game of Thrones plummet. Especially knowing that an entire arc was ended via Deus Ex Machina.

It's not about pleasing everyone, but it's also not about creating needless, thoughtless controversy. They complained about their budget and blamed pirating -- but if you're going to be a lazy writer (there's no debating, this is fact) you had better make it worthwhile for people to pay for your product.

Conversation is always a plus, but when it's to the point where a lot of people think this ruins the series you're not doing yourself any favors.

I'm not in that camp yet, but this was a major blow to all of the hard work writers did in the past.

Rewatch value? Prudes are the main 're-watchers' because they dissect any and every thing possible. Maybe it's genius, maybe it's lazy... my stance: it's available.

Can't wait to see your summary next week. That sounds smart arse, but I'm being genuine, believe it or not.

Different writer, but I think they really just tried to cram way too much into a single season. Possibly because the series just isn't making the money it should be.

THAT is a whole other situation.

The Paywall Model is slowly dying out, and I'm surprised advertisers aren't making more of a push to get things like GoT with Youtube deals. The traffic alone would pay for the show tenfold, and give those who actually do want to watch the series over again a better alternative.

Not to mention outrageously stronger servers and groundwork that's already been established. I give this paywall/subscription stuff maybe 10 - 15 years before they do what a lot of Free To Play video games are doing.

That aside: My only hope is that the rest of this season has more believable twists and turns. Even the conflict between Sansa and Dany felt extremely forced.

You've made it obvious the rest of this season is doomed, in your mind, no matter how good it plays out.

Everyone loves a good train wreck, so I'll watch it for that reason.

I have no faith that d&d can rectify the stupidity from this episode. I mean, the first episode's name is literally "Winter Is Coming".

The first scene, ever, for the show is a scene or Rangers from Blackwatch being killed by White Walkers. This is like fumbling on the one yard line and having the ball squirt out 20 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

As long as that POS Bran is alive, I’m holding out hope that the Night King returns.

There were some interesting theories. I guess we'll just have to wait for the upcoming prequel to learn anything about him, but...

Does it even matter if that's his end?
