Replaced the agitator dogs for about 6.00 a few yeays ago.
...i was watching an appliance repair guys' youtube channel...
My point is - Old American Made stuff was really good. That was his point compared to what is now sold as top end.
Would some people pay a crazy high price if they knew it would last their lifetime?
Probably not as people move around and look at a 10yr plan as prety far reaching.

False economics is a bitch.

I just got rid of my high end Kenmore washer and dryer that were 10 years old. Dryer was OK but the washer was a POS that never got anything clean. We bought a Speed Queen set and for the first time in years my clothes look clean and smell fresh.
Nothing anymore is built like the old stuff but from what I hear this Speed Queen set is pretty close with a 7 year warranty.

I hate these washing machines with the computerized jets that spray controlled bursts of water on the clothes for "conservation" purposes, don't seem to clean very well, and then need some sort of expensive replacement part every few years.
frick you, just fill up with water and inundate every square inch of my clothes, slosh it around with normal detergent, and rinse it off — dishwashers do not seem to have a problem with this.
While we're complaining, another thing that pisses me off is when you finally find a brand and model (of anything) that you love, go to buy the exact same thing, and everything is different. Like it's gone from the best, quality-controlled bang-for-the-buck to the biggest POS and you've got to start researching and comparing specs all over again.
