ok, you cannot prove that empirically though. I had professors who went to Va Tech, so what is the difference from going to Va tech and being taught by an engineer who went there.

Not really. Its ranked #71. Its not even one of the top programs in the South. The best programs are Georgia Tech, Texas, Texas A&M, and Virginia Tech. The only program you mentioned that is among these is Va Tech. Annoyingly, you seem to have an overinflated sense of the worth of your own degree (ironic considering you JUST told me "not to buy the hype").

engineering college rankings by liberal arts grads in a magazine for copy does not speak to employers perception, and they actually hire the engineers.

I'd rather have a degree from Clemson than others, given I want to live in South Carolina where there are a lot of Clemson grads. If I wanted to live in Bama i'd prefer one form Auburn, etc.

Those rankings reflect schools who brag about their programs. It is marketing. Clemson has figured that out and markets it like crazy now.

On a side note, I want to reiterate my lament for my current employer. Wisconsin will not be a Top 10 public university for long. Thanks, Scott. 'Preciate that.

Meh, I don't take it seriously.
I just like a well-oiled machine board.
It's my OCD.
Carry on.
I'm certain you'll all come to harmonious agreement re: these issues before its all said and done.

Ok well i predicted Texas AM would win SEC west next year. Figured you could be cool after that. I always liked Texas Am despite the lack of women in the stands. lol

You've changed since joining the SEC.

How did I get a job interview in Roanoke next week if VA tech is considered better?

The guy told me Clemson has an excclent reptuation.

I also worked up in Maryland in DC metro for two years.

Like I said, the employers of engineers don't see a difference in universities. Engineering isn't a cupcake program at any college.

Didn't think I needed to explain the negative connotation implied, but here it is spelled out for you. Guess they don't teach these things in Clemson's engineering program.

Most people get jobs because they know somebody. Good luck on your interview.

I'm not trying to be "not cool."
Just sayin this thread will still be alive & kicking at 20 pages.
And the gist of the responses will be, "I know you are, but what am I?"

No big deal.
You're right. Who am I to dictate convo?
I'm certainly no Paul Blart tSECr cop.
Dive back in, I guess.

I've interview and/or been offered jobs in SC, NC, GA, TX, AL, MS, Kentucky, TN, VA.

Clemson degree does all that I want it to, gets me interviews. I have to bring it home after that.

I think you are being a reductionist. I think we are having a decent conversation here, disregarding LSU's last post. lol.

Woohoo! UGA engineering is equivalent to Clemson in the eyes of employers

I doubt it given most don't know UGA has an engineering program now. But long as they have an engineering degree, don't see why not. The programs are accreditted programs.

He undermined his premise in a few words. Classic.

If there isn't a big difference, why brag about your degree? This guy isn't too bright.
