Since you two like this type of thing. This is simplistic and I realize that but... a monthish ago I was watching something on tv- maybe netflix who knows and when I popped it back to regular tv it was on some sports show, I had muted it so I have no idea the specific convo. I don't remember who the host (whatever word) was but that dude who follows Lebron around (that I've seen threads about on the more sports board- he's some type of sports journalist I suppose but I think got his name by pretty much stalking Lebron like I said).

Bear with me cuz this might get wordy as it's rolled thru my mind a few times since then...

Anyway, so I'm watching this and there's whoever host, dumpy schluppy looking Lebron stalker guy, and then they bring in some hot young black dude beautiful smile, fit, sharply dressed- did I mention hot? I assume maybe a former player?? So I'm there looking at my tv contrasting the schluppy stalker to this guy.

Now, there's a select few white idiots that are going to hate the black guy simply for being black but on the flip there's also a select few black idiots that are going to automatically hate the white guy. So can we for this conversation throw out those outliers and just focus on regular humanity?

The question popped in my head- would someone have the ability to look me straight in the eye- looking at the screen as I was- and be able to tell me that stalker had white privilege over the hottie dude? I would have to laugh if they did- I don't believe there's a place (again, we're throwing out the lowest common denominator and focusing on average people)- bar, job interview, date, walking generically down a street- where someone would look at the two of them and not think longer, better of, be naturally more attracted to the black dude.

I realize that I don't even know these guys names so it's very possible schluppy had a great childhood while hottie had a shitty one but childhood ends and adulthood is the bulk of people's lives (assuming they live to a ripe old age).

So, in a nutshell- does white privilege actually exist or exist past childhood? Or is prejudice more based simply on the first glance of the beholder?
