It's way beyond what happened yesterday...NFL officiating has reached jaw dropping bad levels the entire season...against many teams.

Yes, I said the same thing when the Saints benefitted from that horrid PI call against the Steelers' Joe Haden a few weeks back. Incompetent, inconsistent officiating is losing the NFL far more fans than kneeling or any other controversy ever would.

Fans of every team deserve way better than this. LINK

Agree. The game is starting to be unwatchable.

They also proved how little they give a shite for player safety with all of the helmet to helmet hits that were not called this year. They need to at least adopt the college rule so they can throw the flag and review it if that is what it takes to get it right.

By no means am I defending the zebras, but it’s a slippery slope if they institute instant replay for plays like this.

What if they missed a holding call as well on the Saints o-Line? Should they retroactively call that as well? Either way, that no call was egregious and feel terrible for who dat nation. They definitely got robbed.

There would not be constant challenges. Teams would still have 2 challenges +1 if both are successful. Just add some penalties to the list of challengable calls.

What needs to happen is the officiating crews need to be a third party entity. Like third party inspections and auditors that watches over the oilfield.
They would be more accountability and better training this way.

The NBA does it for potential flagrant fouls. Why can't the NFL? A PI and foul in the NBA are very similar in terms of making a judgment call but with different rules. There is no reason PIs cannot be reviewable.

It’s ridiculous that the Ref’s get penalized for throwing the flag when it’s not a flag, but plays that were not flagged can not be reviewed. Plays like this with no flag thrown should have some sort of means to review.

It’s really pretty simple to have a crew of Ref’s watching it on tv that can make a decision within seconds on anything egregious. Have a team of 3 ref’s watching every game on a screen with the ability to rewind and slo mo. Give them something like 10 seconds to make a decision. They would only be used a handful of times a game at most.

The worst part was, as said by others, this play was likely a helmet to helmet worst case. How was that not even called?

Have another official in the booth that can determine if it was "egregious" or not. Use the same rules as overturning a call on the field where you have to be 100% sure.

There were multiple fouls on both teams that did not called. The rest were run of the mill bad calls that happen every week. The last PI was not like any of the others.
