Granted these are 'reported' players leaving and nothing officially announced. Nick Demien, Greg White, Michael Boddie, Xavier Smtih and Daniel Easterly - all of which I believe have graduated as well.

However this still sits at 87 scholarship players as close as I can tell. Is Gereau on scholarship?

Thanks for the info....noticing that we don't have a lot of seniors which bodes well for the future.

True, the roster is very bottom-heavy. Next year will likely be a step back, but the future looks bright. Hopefully that step back won't be a big one.

If we're still at 87, I wonder if they're expecting some folks to not make grades?

I believe Pete at PM had us at 86 currently.

OK. And it's likely that at least 1 won't return for some reason - grades, injury, family issues, etc. Hate it, but that's the way it always goes.

I know DB's are great athletes and very good on special teams but we do not need 18 DB's in the SEC. We need more stud LB's and DL.

DB is Pinkel's second most problematic position typically, but LB is his first and man are we thin there. Lot's of freshman though.
If last season's team had some stud LB's we likely beat SC and Auburn.

Thanks for the list. Man there is a drop off at DE. Not in terms of talent. More in terms of only 2 players with any real experience. Make that ANY experience. Will be interesting to see who steps up.

The only thing I can say about 18 DB's is there should be a butt load of competition and competition should be a good thing. I really like some of the young ones though. Penton. Gibson. Sherrils. Ross. Taylor. Wingo. Should be solid in the backfield for years to come.

I have heard rumors that the defense will be more of a 3-3-5 or even a 4-2-5 going forward with some of the larger DBs playing as a hybrid linebacker role.

I also wonder if one of them might get some reps as a RB as well. 5 RBs should be plenty but if there are injuries...

I think Moar is on the way. We lose what? One this year? Murphy. We should have at least 3 in this next class, taking us to 7 total. I think 5 is okay this year as long as one of the freshmen can contribute if called upon.
