Yep! Cards win, Tigers win and Rams win. Good weekend for sports in da Lou!

Tell me if I'm reading this wrong, but I don't remember our final stretch of games being so "easy" (yes I'm the type to be knocking on wood right now). 15 of 18 games against teams under .500(6 with Brewers; 3 with Cubs and 3 with Mariners and 3 with Rockies) and the other 3 games are against the Nationals, who while in 2nd are barely playing .500 ball. From what I'm seeing, it sets up nicely.

Yeah, the schedule worked out great.
The Pirates and Reds also have 6 games left with each other.

What's wrong with this picture. Dad's at home watching high school football on the computer and the ballgame on TV and son is at the game. Regardless, Cards win in extras. Some of these late game heroics remind me of certain years but I'm not jinxing us and saying what years. Games are winding down though.

Good to see Wainwright back to his old form. Shame he didn't get the win though. 8 innings. 1 earned run.

No jinx, no jinx.
We are SO spoiled having the Cardinals. We really are. When we are comparing these games with "certain years"..our cup runeth over.

So true. I told my son to enjoy it as much as he can. As spoiled as we are, I was his age in the 70's and it wasn't quite the same. Then again, spoiled if we're only talking years and not decades or centuries between world series appearances.

I just missed the 70's
Im even more spoiled, excluding that speed bump in the 90's.

And that was just a speed bump. The only thing cool about the 70's was I got to catch the second half of Lou Brock's career.

That is cool though reedus. That is really cool.

Where is the consistency? 10 runs. Shutout. Tomorrow we won't score and will lose 5-0. Got to find more consistent bats and soon.

Wacha throws no hitter through 8 2/3 before giving up an INFIELD SINGLE
. Wonder if he just earned a spot in the rotation come playoff time? Dunno. When he's good he can be really good. But when it goes south, it does so in a hurry. But then again, the same goes for Lynn.
Figure it's got to be Wainwright, Miller, Kelly and a 4th, right?
ETA - Unless it's a must win situation and Waino goes on short rest.

I have a feeling it will be
Waino
Miller
Lynn
With the way the first series is scheduled we only use a 3 man rotation. I think. Watch for Kelly to be the fireman in the bully. If Miller gets roughed up or Lynn goes back to mid season form kelly will be the long man.
this is all assuming we do not have to have the wildcard one game

You might be right, but Kelly's ERA is under 3.00 I think and he's been pretty solid since being thrown in the starting rotation. Lynn's ERA is over 4.00 I think, though he's come back to form a little in his last couple of starts. It's almost 6 of one half dozen of the other to me. Personally would do Kelly but wouldn't be surprised if it's Lynn with a bit more experience.

If things finish as they are now, I suppose we'd have the Dodgers and play next Thursday and Friday at home. Those have to be Waino and Miller IMO. Miller's numbers on the road aren't so good, but pretty impressive at home. Then away Sunday and Monday. Kelly is actually better on the road (2.07) than at home (3.59). Lynn is the opposite. At home 3.00 and on the road 5.15. Probably too early to say if they bring Waino back on Monday if he pitched Thursday. Probably depends on if it is a must win game, though if you pitch him later than Monday, you probably lose him for Game 1 of the next series if you get that far.

I would really like to go to a game if they play the Dodgers, but those fans are brutal.
Literally.
I think you go with...
Waino
Miller
Kelly
Lynn
Wacha as the long man.
Lynn worries me though, that dude can get sideways real quick.

Is the magic number down to 3 now?

Yep. As far as the Pirates go because they won. Reds lost and have little to no chance. I suppose the magic number when looking at them is down to 2.
