Just goes to show you the star system means nothing. "Slow" running back in high school becomes an All American DE (outside linebacker) his junior year in college.

Never complain we do not have enough 4 and 5 star recruits. Auburn and UT are loaded with them. Enough said.

Sometimes guys slip through the cracks, or bloom late.

Pinkel was awesome at finding these types and BO is proving his metal doing the same.

He is having an awesome career. 54 TFLs (29 sacks) in two years is bending the edge at any level.

Too bad he is 6' tall. He was in Nebraska's back field all day last year then they beat the Huskers in Lincoln

What about all those 4-5 stars players at Bama, Georgia, Clemson and Ohio State?

Good on him. Love hearing stories like that. And I agree. Not every great player has to be a 4* or 5* athlete coming out of high school.

On the flip side, I guess it all depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If one is satisfied never getting to the CFP Playoffs, you can take a bunch of rough and hope you find the diamond. I'd be curious to know how many 4* and 5* players teams in the playoffs have had over the years.

It is all about coaching and player management. Bama , Clemson, and a few others have it. TAMU, Texas, Tenn, Auburn, USC, and too many to name do not right now.

I have a problem with some of HCBO’s decisions but not his personnel decisions. He learned well from Pinkel and Fuentes.

Correct

As in, if all the chips fall in place then MAYBE you have a chance.

That’s just how it is in CFB. There is essentially no parity at all.
