Some of these guys may move around between DE and DT or LB and DE. That's also why I didn't break out safeties from corners.

Looks to me like the freshmen may get a shot at DE though. Damn we're thin there. If Ray has a year and goes, we're really thin unless some LB's slide up to DE.

Looking at it, besides the DE's, I think Lee will have a legitimate shot at time and possibly Ross and another back. Lots of competition for those spots now.

I feel like Penton will be our top CB next year. Had a very strong showing as a frosh last year. Beisel could end up leading our team in tackles if he wins a competition in camp to start. Some of these younger guys I would like to see worked on the field whether on special teams or just in special packages on defense just to get them playing experience.

This is great stuff. And now I see why the staff was focused on DEs. There is definitely potential for a true freshman to see playing time.

I agree. I like Penton a lot. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. They have the numbers and the talent back there, though young, that the secondary should be much improved.

Expect Logan Cheadle to be next year's Penton.

Danny Heitert believes that Bauer and Cheadle are the in-state commits that could play immediately.

His evaluations are usually spot on.
