This should be good news for Mizzou. Mizzou haven't had success on stopping Iowa from taking any of the top OL/offense recruits from the State of Missouri. Future top OL/offense recruits in the State of Missouri should see that Iowa OL coach will not be at Iowa any more. This is the break Mizzou has been waiting for to keep top recruits of the State of Missouri from going to Iowa.

I don’t think this effects anything for us, but I damn sure respect your passion

Didn't Iowa get Missouri top OL recruit? That should make a huge difference in the next few years. Should help Mizzou to convince those top OL Missouri recruits to go to Missouri after Iowa loses their OL coach.

They got a guy Mizzou never really pursued for whatever reason. Whether he was the top or not remains to be seen.

So that 4* recruits wasn't good enough for Mizzou?! I read an article some time ago and it talked about how Iowa was able to get Missouri top OL recruits over the years. Now he is gone for good! That is good news for Mizzou. That is why Mizzou need to get those 4* recruits to come to Mizzou. That is all I am saying the little things can make a huge difference for Drinkwitz and Mizzou. If you think any 4* recruits from Missouri isn't worth it then you are mistaken.
He did signed the first part of the recruiting class. I think Drinkwitz had no chance. But now we shall make other top OL from Missouri to go to Mizzou and not to Iowa. I guess you didn't see that article about it not too long ago.

Every year there is a 4* that mizzou barely if at all pursues, part of the game.

I think it has more to do with past play-style. Mizzou embracing the Spread in the early days of Pinkel probably had more to do with this c than you think.

An OL looking to go to the NFL would probably jump at a school like Iowa that plays more conventional smashmouth football as a way to showcase talent.

A buddy of mine is an Iowa grad. He didn't have any insight into why Mizzou didn't pursue that 4* kid out of the KC area either.

I read a piece about the kid and this is exactly the reason (whether right or wrong) that he chose Iowa.

On the other hand, this is a good time for Mizzou to redouble efforts in recruiting Iowa kids. The lure for Iowa HSers to play at Nebraska has really faded.

Iowa always has and always will pull 1 or 2 kids out of Missouri. Some we pursued. Some we didn't. Some OL some not. Just is what it is.

Drinkwitz isn't running the offense that ran in the past. Give Drinkiwtz time to get those OL recruits to see that he is better than those of the past HC at Mizzou. I am looking forward to see a much more balance offense and that will work but got to get the top recruits to get the OLs to block and to open up lanes for running backs. The hard part is to convince those top OL recruits to show that he will get those players to do the same thing what is done at Iowa. Give it time for the those top OL recruits to take a serious look at Mizzou.

Threads like this make me very curious as far as how well Mizzou would have recruited if they went to the Big 10 instead of the SEC. I think they would do better just based on geography but we will never really know.

I’m sure it would be about the same. Coaches and conference affiliation rarely make a big difference.

Schools recruit how they recruit with only slight variance.

If Drink stays consistently in the 20-30 range that means he’s really good. That’s a slight upgrade over the past, and probably close to the ceiling

I agree with your range for now, but they will have to get to the 15-25 range to compete for the East consistently. We need speed, speed and more speed at the skilled positions and rugged d and o-linemen.

Clayborn's situation/timing was unfortunate, would have loved him as a tiger, would have been a fan favorite.

IMO Mizzou's success was built on player development of 3 star recruits. Not sure what was Pinkel's best class was but they never really had a top ten class afair.
