Over the last 10 years, MU averaged 48 PBU, 30 QB hurries, 32 sacks and 91 TFLs.

In 2018 MU had 41 PBU, 48 QB hurries, 27 sacks, and 73 TFLs.

Returning production is 31 PBUs, 28 hurries, 12 sacks, and 37 TFls. Sacks is the only area where they don't return at least 50% of their production and it's at 44%. I think the front 7 is going to be good again. A lot rides Turner, Byers, and Bolton being in the right spot but I think they are in capable hands in terms of position coaches.

Last season the pass defense produced the lowest completion % allowed at 55.7%. Acy and Holmes both allowed less than 50% of the balls thrown at them to be completed and combined for half the PBUs with 22. They are the best pair of Press/Man CBs MU has had in the last 20 years and it isn't particularly close. Ponder and Gaines were solid but they played far fewer snaps M2M.

Knowing what Acy and Holmes did last year, as a unit the secondary allowed 39 plays of 25 yards or more last year. They allowed 24 passing TDs and the most RZ passing TDs with 15.

I wasn't much on one individual player but I certainly think there was enough at safety to be assignment sound. Regardless of the pair on the field, they spent a lot of time looking at each other with their hands in the air and that is all on Walters. There was knowledge gained with the Monachino hire and I hope he is taking as much as he can from Gibbs because I think this will be a one year stop for him. If that room isn't any better I don't know how Odom will justify keeping him.
