Alan did what he does. Didn't have the chance to get on top of Tomasello, which hurts his gameplan. for next year....depends on Redshirts obviously but I think it will look like this

125-Barlow McGee- was 125 last year while Waters RS. Could be NCAA qualifier. Maybe Chase Brennan from Monett.

133-Synon OR Jaydin Clayton (tolton)-Clayton just finished his HS career perfect. Could definitely walk in and start right away. He is a future star.

141-I think mayes moves up, but if not, this spot is his. Other options might be Matt Manley (2014 NCAA qualifier) or Synon maybe.

149-Mayes or Leroy Barnes. Barnes was a Juco National champ. Mayes was struggling with weight this year.

157-Lavalle. pretty cut and dry.

165-Cody Johnston, or Matt Lemancoiwiz- Don't know here. Perhaps a freshman recruit.

174-Younger Miklus maybe. Redshirted this year. No Clue.

184-Willie Miklus probably. Might bump to 197, but I think he stays here.

197-maybe J'den. I think he moves up to Heavy. But perhaps a freshman.

285-J'Den, Or a freshman.

Sounds to me next year won't be nearly as strong as next year. Is that fair?

Wrestling is such an intense sport I wish more people would watch it. Once you understand the rules and technique being used it is amazing. Tough end for the Tigers but a great year and Coach Smith is building a true national brand.

Yeah, definitely going to take a step back next year, but the year after, that will be another high.

As we saw this year, sometimes teams aren't the strongest but have 2 or 3 that make it to the finals and make the top 3 (Edinboro). Mizzou would have smashed them in a dual, but in tournament terms, its all about individual production.

Just another piece. Next year is an Olympic redshirt year. Would expect some of the top guys in the country to take the redshirt and try to qualify for the Olympics.

If our 3 returning All-Americans can somehow get a few more guys on the podium, we should still be a top 8 team next season.

I just took another look at the roster. I agree, it will probably be a step back next year but maybe not as big of one as I initially thought.

What about the Daniel Lewis kid? He seemed to have a heck of a high school career and seemed to do ok in the chances he got.

Also, looks like they have another outstanding recruit coming in with Dylan Wisman. Looks like he projects at 184. I don't know how Cox or Miklus moving up a weight, but if they could do that without losing a step, I wouldn't mind seeing Wisman slide in at 184.

So what I'd love to see is:

125 - McGhee or Brennan. Growing pains at this weight.
133 - Clayton. Would love to see him be just that good to unseat Synon. If he is that good, can he really be Cox good? Can he AA as a FR?
141 - Barnes - Though you indicate he's at 149, the roster lists him at 141. If he was a JUCO national champ, I'd hope he can make AA at least.
149 - Mayes - If he had trouble keeping weight, it might be best for him. Another potential AA.
157 - Lavalle - It's his, but he has to improve a lot to AA. I'm an amateur fan, but not overly impressed with his style.
165 - Daniel Lewis, unless you know something about him I don't. As a FR this year he was 21-8. Won 4 straight state titles in HS. His SR year of HS, every match was a fall or technical fall. Unless you know something about him that I don't, I could see him making a huge impact as well.
174 - Tim Miklus - Not a whole lot of options. If he wrestles like his brother, I'll like him.
184 - Dylan Wisman - I don't know if he can come in with the splash Cox did his freshman year, but it would be great experience and I think he could hold his own more than a no name HWT.
197 - Miklus, but only if him and Cox can move up a weight without missing a beat. If they can't, I go with a freshman and keep these 2 at their original weight. Miklus can AA though.
HWT - Cox - Will AA barring injuries.

They project Clayton at 141, but I see him at 133. Same with Roark, probably not 149. Another McCormick might challenge for a spot. Heard solid things about Butler from Il. Wisman and Pesek are supposed to be pretty good as well.

I had forgotten about Daniel Lewis. Since 165 is pretty weak/open, wouldn't surprise me if he won the spot. Little worried about how he has struggled at Fargo, but nothing too big.

Thanks for all the info 5th. Really am getting into the whole wrestling thing. They've earned more support from the University and fans IMO.
