Mizzou is actually starting to get some respect. It feels weird.

First, we get the best bowl outside of the New Years Day big 6. Pinkel is thrilled about picked over Georgia and many others for the Citrus Bowl. While many people think we should have been ranked higher before losing to Bama, its a great bowl for us. The SEC gave us respect and put us there unlike the snubs we got in the 'lil 12. Kansas in the Orange bowl still pisses me off.

Second, I have seen more articles this week about Mizzou being for real and writers admitting they were wrong to doubt them and won't do it again so quickly.

Here's another one.

And this.

Third, the coaches vote for Pinkel for SEC coach of the year Ray for Defensive and Murphy for Special Teams POTY. That's awesome.

We lose to Bama and are now getting more respect than I can ever remember. It feels weird.

While it's nice to get some begrudging respect, the writer of the Bleacher Report article failed.

He thinks Mizzou is bringing back most of their difference makers and that Shane Ray can improve his draft stock by returning. Never mind we're losing both DEs (again), all three starting WRs (again) and the best all-purpose back in recent memory.

If they can reload all of those slots and win again, Mizzou may have indeed arrived as a program that won't be overlooked.

See what happens when you go by the script and "throw" the SECCG.....one hand washes the other.

That's what we say about someone every year and that person rarely lives up to the hype.

After I caught a few Tigers games this season I was fairly certain they'd contend for the East. For what it is worth I think Georgia was the most talented team in the East, and in the country for that matter, but once again they just completely fell apart in a couple of games this year. The Tigers kept their head down and worked for it.

ETA: Ahem, I meant Georgia was "one" of the most talented teams in the country. It still did not help them win the SEC East.
