Played Southern Miss (who swept us in a 3 game set last year I believe). Started off slow. 7 of first 10 batters struck out for Mizzou. Gave up 2 runs in the 1st to fall behind 2-0. Team settled in, kept playing ball and battled through out to eventually win 4-2.

Always good to start the season with a win. Had to work during the first game. Won't be able to catch the second game cuz I'll be out. Hopefully they can get a 2nd win today

Mizzou beat Radford 15-3. Mizzou now 3-1. Even against weak teams, never saw this kind of offense last year. Another thing we never saw last year was a winning record. Good starts on all ends. Pitching was a little spotty today, though we did see sophomore phenom Alec Rash's first appearance of the year. Came in in the 9th, gave up a single and double before going K, Foul Out, K and stranding runners at 2nd and 3rd. Rash passed up big money by coming to Mizzou as he was drafted in the 2nd round out of high school. It was a bit worrisome that there had been no sighting previously. He was drafted by the Phillies who have taken some heat for "outing" college players that refused to sign with them when drafted, claiming they had hired agents. The concern that Rash was caught up in that can be put to rest after today's appearance.

Keep up the baseball updates. It would be cool if we could get more of the fanbase on fire for baseball.

Tough weekend this weekend. Mizzou beat Radford with a lot of offense, so-so pitching. Turned around and lost 1-0 to Wake Forest yesterday and an embarrassing game today losing 11-5 to Cincinnati. 3-3 overall.

Play Liberty tomorrow and Campbell Wednesday in NC before coming home for the first time to play a weekend series against UIC. Supposed to be in the 20's with snow this weekend. Go figure. Mizzou baseball for ya.

Not even bothering to update the record. Lost to IPFW or some assortment of letters like that today.

We have officially become a softball school.

Question for anybody - do college baseball coaches get fired during the season or is it normally an off season move?

My take from tripp and astro on TB is that not at Mizzou. Alden rarely, if ever, fires a non-revenue sport coach short of some sort of scandal or cause. So, I'm guessing we're stuck with TJ until his contract is up in a year or two.

Alden better start taking this shite seriously. TJ should have been gone awhile back.

Is this the coaches fault?

Didn't we just build a reasonable clubhouse last year?

MO State has a far far better stadium.

It seems like it wouldn't be that expensive (considering what is spent on other things) to build a quaint character filled little ballpark. I think that would go a long way in helping get better ballplayers.

And all those Murray St look alike Mizzou baseball hats should be burned.

I think we need to grab SLU's coach Darin Hendrickson before someone else does. The guy is a rising star in college baseball.

Don't they play in the minor league ballpark? I could be way off base on that.

Alden is the one that is going to have to break the vicious circle. Right now, baseball doesn't win, so they don't get nice stuff. They won't win though because they don't have the nice stuff. Yes, I know they put some money into it this last year, but frankly, that just brought the stadium up to high school standards. I don't know where you put the field, but they need a whole new stadium. They need to cross-promote the baseball during football and more particularly basketball games. They need to get a damn reliable, free stream on the internet if they aren't going to get the games on the radio in Springfield, KC and STL. And I said reliable. 80% of the time that KTGR feed doesn't work during games.

Couldn't agree more. All the guy has done is win wherever he is. Started a program at Fontbonne. Won. Coached at Forest Park CC. Won. Coached at Central Missouri. Won. Coached at SLU. Won. I don't know that he has strong recruiting ties to the southeast, but sometimes that just doesn't matter. If he can get the SLU program winning, imagine what he can do at an SEC school.

Looks like you're right. It's the Springfield Cardinals stadium, I never knew that.

I really beleive in my heart, that this was a great move. And they will adjust, but it will take time.
