MA wasn't a horrible coach. Lack of discipline on the Court, but his style of play will typically win you a fair amount of games but forget it on the road and forget it in the tourney where you're not getting every call to go your way. It can be exciting to watch for 2 or 3 games and then you shite the bed because of a lack of discipline and fundamentals.
Alot of what your speaking of has to do with players buying into the system. If they can't play in the system, they end up not buying into it. This is a direct result of the head coach and his ability to recruit the right players not necessarily the best players and being able to mold them into what he needs and thus getting them to buy in to what he's coaching. His recruiting relys on alot of hype and the right connections in my opinion.
Point in example....Frank Haith last year. He took a team with players that were accustomed to a different style of BB and turned them to his system and had great success with it even with a shallow bench and undersized players, because he was good enough to get them to buy into his style of play. Now thats a good coach.
I don't think MA is the worst coach, but he definitely aint no Haith.

Welcome to a MA coached team.
No doubt. I enjoyed having lunch with my tailgate crew on Thurs and telling them so. Our 6ft 10in player want to play on the perimeter and shoot 18ft Js.
