I am seeing someone, but he's not a true son. No true sons seemed interested!

I'm an LSU fan, but Mizzou is my 2nd favorite team. Does that count?

Well, yesterday just sucked all around. I attended the funeral of one of my favorite people in the world, my aunt Shirley who was almost a second mom to me. Then watched that pitiful excuse for a basketball team on the court last night.
I watched the game with a family friend who is a basketball coach, and he was able to point out all the things we did wrong. Repeatedly. He was highly critical of Pressey's play, and of some of our defensive tactics - such as they were. It was sad.
Yes, I'm depressed today. Not in much of a posting mood, sadly. I will likely lurk a bit, may post some. And I'll definitely continue to think of some of the wonderful life lessons taught to me by one of the coolest ladies I'll ever be privileged to know.

Semo,
So sorry for your personal loss. May you find peace and solace in your wonderful memories.

Sorry to hear about your aunt semo Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. It does remind you, though, that the game was just that, a game. More important things in life.
I am curious what your friend had to say about the defense and Pressey though. I know you're in a lurking kind of mood, but can I draw you out of lurker status to share what his observations were. Oh, and is he looking for a job? MU could use someone who knows their x's and o's.

Thanks, y'all. It's a sad time. My aunt was a big basketball fan, and we used to talk hoops occasionally. This cold snap is probably her being pissed of at the pitiful play last night.
And Reedus, my friend's biggest criticism of Pressey is in his intellect. He has all the tools he needs to be an outstanding PG, but he doesn't think ahead all the time. Sometimes he does, and looks amazing. But it's not consistent. If he were his coach, he'd be reinforcing the need for a PG to always, always be thinking - leading the offense instead of sometimes playing selfishly. He says he also plays sloppy - doesn't take care of the ball well enough. His assist to turnover ratio is awful, and that's him being reckless and not thinking ahead. It's true that he doesn't have a lot of good passers around him, but a lot of the turnovers are on him, not other players.
As far as team defense, in his opinion, they're sloppy on execution - they do a decent job inside (most of the time, last night was just awful all the way around), but the perimeter is weak. And when they're on defense, their body position is poor in relation to the player they're guarding. They let the offensive dictate too much, and don't rotate their hips and shoulders to the ball. That leaves them out of position, and their assignment often gets by them. It's fundamental body position.
He also felt like their passing technique is also poor, in general. They look like they're playing street ball instead of NCAA Div1. He believes that, talent wise, they're probably 2nd best in the SEC. But they're not playing like it - their defense is average-to-poor, and some of their fundamentals need work.
As far as needing a job...no. This is actually the first year in the last 30 that he hasn't coached a team. He's working for an athletic department right now, and doing some announcing and sports radio shows.
ETA - I should add that he is NOT a Frank Haith fan. In his opinion, it was a bad hire, and his recruits are guys with a lot of basketball talent, but not necessarily great basketball intellect. He also believes Haith will not survive the NCAA investigation and some other stuff going on behind the scenes. I will be watching Haith's travel plans next week for a trip to Miami. If that happens, there will be news about it.
