After having my dopamine plummet like the 1929 stock market game after game and after watching Drinkwitz make a few good points in his post-A&M game presser and having watched a clip of Sam Horn continuing to express enthusiasm for coming to MU, I've decided to take a step back from the ledge. I am now officially in 2022 mode. Here are my (hopefully) low expectations for the rest of the season:

1. Win one of two between Vandy and SCAR. The rest of the games are unwinnable given the current state of this team.

2. Hold enough commits/recruits to keep the 2022 class in the top 25.

3. Show SOME improvement in SOME facet of the game between now and the end of the season. I don't even care which facet, I just want to see movement.

If we can accomplish those three things I will put a stop to all the stomach acid generation and patiently bide my time watching HS film of all the new recruits as well as the remaining MU games from more of an intellectual than emotional point of view all while waiting for 2022 and 2023 where I WILL expect substantial improvement.

If we beat both Vandy and SCAR and/or by some miracle land Burden I'll simply enjoy that icing on the cake!

Whew, I feel better already. Who will join me in this reframe?

Gracial tweeted his UA all-American invite in his Mizzou sweater. Tavorus Jones even retweeted it with a tiger face. Sam Horn didn’t have any doubts about coming to Mizzou in his ESPN interview. Still have a great shot at burden and will know tomorrow. I’d say we have a great chance at retaining all of our recruits as they seem to be sold

That is because they know how bad the current roster is. Give the HC credit for showing what the new recruits can do on the field next year. That is why he is on track to set up a very good team in the next couple of years.

We’re all good. I don’t see anything from any of the recruits to make me think they are wavering. We are going to pick up a 5* WR tomorrow and will likely finish in the top 15. By far our best class ever. There will be plenty of talent in the portal to address other needs.

We suck now but we’ll be much better next year and the sky is the limit.

I’m still holding out hope for a bowl though. As bad as we are, Vandy and SC are worse and Florida and Arky are both beatable if we play our A game and they don’t.

Tomorrow is a important day. Land LB and that sends a message that Drink has top talent believing in his vision. Don't land him, and who knows.

There was this year also. So far t Blaze Green and Evans have been more miss than hit.. All three a bust? Or is it more a scheme a scheme issue?

We have yet play to our capabilities. Even with the lack of talent on D.

We already have several top talents committed.

We have 6 guys in this class alone that are all rated higher than Odom’s best recruit. It’s not just Luther. I see a weird thing forming here like if we don’t get him this class is some kind of failure. Far from it. It’s going to be our best class ever either way.

Evans has been good. Green is ok I guess. Blaze sucks so that’s a definite miss. Ogar is probably a starter for us next year and was highly rated so that’s a TBD.

Your last point I definitely agree with, but I’m still holding out hope. If we get to the last game of the year and we are playing for a bowl and Arkansas really isn’t playing for anything…we own them. We put up 50 on them last year. That game is winnable. So is Florida but probably less so

No not at all.. I just think if we miss LB then things could get interesting.. Hold what we have.. All would be good with or without LB.

Nice. I almost started a thread after seeing people panic. If we survived the late 80's and early 90's, this too shall pass.
Worst case I can imagine right now: Drinkwitz is an excellent recruiter who can't teach and coach on gameday; in that case we would probably have 4 classes in the top 25, and that would be a talent rich roster if we changed direction at head coach. The next coach won't come in with a bare cupboard.

Yeah, I had a little higher expectations for this year. We are woefully bad on defense, and need upgrades on O.

I was upset earlier in the year. But, this was always going to be a “let’s see what happens in 2023” type of move.

The real reason I’ve been upset this year is my concern about losing recruits. If Drink can recruit passes this shite play, then imagine the possibilities once/if we get rolling.

All stories to unfold. The arrow is pointing in the right direction, let’s hope for a good release.

Changed my perspective and not more than a day later, getting some sweet icing!
