I wouldn't blame any kid who transfers from the BB team

It has become clear to me that Cuonzo only cares about playing time for kids who defend, regardless of their lack of offensive skills. Pickett is just plain bad on offense and yet Martin gives him tons of minutes. In fact, Pickett came out of the locker room at half visibly gimpy and yet Martin played him most of the second half. If I'm on the bench sitting behind Pickett, who has 2 years left, I'm hitting the road. Also, how do you ever recruit scorers if they know they will be on the bench if their defense is not up to Martin's standards? If Pinson bolts for pro ball next year it will be another below .500 season.

it's not going to get better. it will probably get worse. it will be two more seasons before they even consider getting rid of him, and I wouldn't expect Sterk to do any better on the next hire (unless Sundvold forces him to)

Y’all are being overdramatic. Pinson would be foolish to bolt for Europe unless he has a dire need for an immediate salary. Tray Jackson should be getting some playing time assuming he’s healthy, but its nothing to call for Cuonzo’s firing over since we don’t know the situation. If we can bring in a big for next year and retain our core we will be in very good shape. It’s a damn turnaround, y’all want to talk about dark days? TURNAROUND

Yeah? I don’t see it. Unless you mean “by very good shape,” looking like a bubble team the last 10 games of the year.

I won't believe this program is in very good shape until they prove they're in very good shape. They'll surprise with some wins now and then and they'll blow your mind with some losses from time to time. I don't see the talent on the floor to be better than a bubble team for the NIT this year, next year or the year after that.

I understand the pessimism but I think the future is brighter than y’all are anticipating if you look at the team objectively. Pinson and Dru should be one of the best guard combos in the country next year. If Mark Smith can stay healthy he will get back to being one of the best 3 point shooters in the conference. We will likely be returning all our key players aside from Nikko from a team that probably should have won 20 games this year if not for injuries and some collapses. Not that the collapses and inconsistencies aren’t concerning, but a lot of that can be overcome with veteran leadership that we should have next season

The board was full of the same sentiment this time last season, it will be full of the same sentiment this time next year. You either learn from history or repeat it

Our football team should’ve won 9.

I can’t find another 5 wins we could’ve won on our schedule. A&M and Charleston Southern we should’ve won. I’m not sure those wins make any real difference in our season.

Xavier and LSU, and I think it’s safe to say we will win at least 1 more in the regular season (I think we win both). Obviously this is just a dumb hypothetical since we will surely lose a couple games we should win every year, but I think the expectation should be a tourney berth next season

Team is showing progress.

Cuonzo needs to find a GT Wing that can hit 3s, a Kash Robinson would make this team instantly better.

I like both but no. They'll be good but not one of the best in the country. The state I might give you.

From a team that should have won 14 games so far this season. I know that to be true because that's how many wins they have. Saying otherwise is like saying we'd be good if we weren't bad.

My entire "I'll believe it when I see it" mentality is because I've been hearing this for years, if not decades now.

Wasn't the basketball team picked to finish 13th in the SEC this year? There was no high expectations for them this year, but it should be next year.

Oh there were some here that were predicting a tourney team this year, even as late as conference play starting. But I would guess a lot of the "professional" prognosticators picked us at the bottom of the SEC. And I'd bet they'll predict us in the bottom half again next year. So what you're saying is they were right this year but if they predict us to finish bottom half next year they'll be wrong?

They like the way Mizzou has started playing lately and some of the coaches think we make the tournament next year. Personally I think that if they could hit some of those 3 point shots they would have won 4-6 more games this year.

Mizzou averaged about 1 to 3 3-pointers out of 17 attempts a game and that put them near the bottom in college basketball. They were last in the SEC.

Unfortunately, the SEC has been really average this year. I’d expect a lot of teams to take steps forward next year, including Arkansas, Tennessee and Alabama. We will do well to simply keep pace with where we were this year unless we get some talent infusion.

Hmm. I suppose "got one" would have more accurately spelled out the post's intent. But the mistake actually makes it funnier. I'll let it stand.
