I bet if Lock played the rest of the game after he first came in....

he'd have put us in position for at least 3 field goal attempts which would've won us the game. At least.
And we probably would've had at least one touchdown on top of that.
He drives us down the field every damn time he comes in.
We're taking away the momentum from Lock rather than Mauk. Mauk has no momentum.

Spot on! But ole Gary will give us this
and keep playing Mauk. It's time to find out how Lock can do for a whole game.
Look around the conference Gary. Teams that aren't very good are making changes. It's time for one here!

Yep.
The only problem I see with lock is his propensity to under throw the long TD pass.
If that's the biggest problem, then let him keep doing it, he'll get it right eventually.
It won't go any worse than the Mauk offense.

What's the buddha say about consistently thinking a freshman QB is the answer to your problems
Although I would like to see Lock play more for sure

I think people still see the same greatness in Mauk that we saw a couple years ago, but the truth is he hasn't grown as a QB or a leader. Mauk today is the samw Mauk we saw in 2013, right down to his completion %.

It's clear Mauk is a mid-major quarterback.
He's playing the same way he did in high school and now that the surrounding talent has leveled off, he's incapable of elevating an offense on his own. He's too inaccurate to sustain an offense on long drives from the pocket and opposing DCs have figured it out.
Pinkel made half of a decision in not redshirting Lock.
Now he needs decide when's the right time to let the other shoe drop and make the switch.

I agree, the fact he is giving him this many reps and even put him in during a tight game in the 4th quarter tells me a lot.
I doubt it happens until we've lost 2 or 3.

maybe.. maybe not, thinking about this over night, I think I see the real issue now with Mauk, he can't run the plays as designed, he's not capable of seeing and making the reads, he's like a real life version of Willie Beamon out there, doing what he can do to make a play because it's really all he can do and it occasionally works. The reason the offense doesn't look like steaming dung when Lock is on the field is because he actually can run the offense that Henson is trying to run as designed.
It's going to be Henson and maybe Hill setting down with Gary and saying "look, we can run the same 5 plays that Matty can do, over and over or we can put in Lock and use the playbook, it's up to you", and at some point even Gary is going to see the obvious truth in it. Pinkel has a tendency to back himself into corners with his Gary speak of "doing what we do" and "no QB controversy here" crap, he needs to wake up and realize "do the same thing every day" as ole Donny told him, may not be some commandment carved in stone from above. Just maybe everything out of James mouth wasn't the word of "football jesus" the way Gary has made it out to be (in his own mind of course) and shouldn't be taken as a literal absolute.

and some teams that aren't even that bad are making changes as well, look at how Spurrier can change QBs on a whim and still win games or at least get offensive production, but then Ole Ball has the football instincts that Gary has really never had. Pinkel still seems to be missing out on the fact that when you have to change players every few years and other teams adjust to you, you really can't just do the same thing over and over.
Do you believe a guy like Dave Christensen might know that when he didn't have a player like Chase running the spread things might go south in hurry? I do, and I think it's one of the reasons he moved on to a starter job in a dust bin conference.
Pinkel is also likely thinking about the situation w/ Mauks dad and his cancer and how they relocated to Mo and all. Nothing wrong with that, you can't discount the human side of the issues but at the end of the day there is only one thing you have to decide really and that's what's best for the team. The best thing for the team is to play the player who gives them the best chance to win. What's the point of having an offense drawn up of which most of you can't even run? What OC is going to let that situation go on and just "keep it to himself", because there's not much doubt that Henson is at least as smart as Christensen.

It is time to start letting Lock see more playing time.
Killz, I agree on the drives. I think we win the ballgame if Lock is given 3 drives last night.
