Mizzou wins the east and Sankey allows them to play in the SEC Championship game?

What would college athletics look like the next day? Is the NCAA instantly neutered and non-existent? Is it a free for all in terms of recruiting or how many scholarships or paying players?

I'm assuming there is no March Madness in 2020, at least in its current format?

Of course, that all presumes that the other conferences stand with the SEC and Mizzou. I know it's all unlikely but what would the implications be if it did happen?

If the SEC defies the NCAA, the Big Ten follows the next day. Those 2 conferences have the largest network payouts and the most to gain from shedding the NCAA shackles. The ACC comes next because their network deal is in it's infancy and they can leverage their basketball if they shed NCAA influence.

If the ACC gives priority to the NIT, then the SEC and Big Ten will follow in basketball, that would be the dagger to the NCAA heart.

A better question would be what if the appeal is not completed by then, Mizzou wins the SEC and then the NCAA is faced with imposing a bullshite postseason ban on a playoff team.

Would be the beginning of the end of the NCAA. I don't see Sankey doing it

I don’t either, but following the same timeline as in the Ole Miss case the NCAA appeal board wouldn’t have a decision until late DEC, early JAN

But the sanctions don't hit during while the appeal is pending right? If that's true, and the appeal is pending at the time of the SEC Championship, I don't see how Sankey could keep us out.

Then say we win, the the appeal is denied. Would the NCAA keep the SEC champion out of the playoffs?

I know. It's all crazy thinking but man would I love to see that happen.

The NCAA can't keep a team out if a bowl or postseason. They control all postseason events except football and the NIT. If Mizzou wins the East and either makes the playoffs or is expected to make a New Year's 6 bowl and Sankey allows them to play, the NCAA would have to sanction the entire SEC since it was Sankeys decision. No way in hell they do that. So it would be the beginning of the end for the NCAA.

Stankey wouldn't allow mizzou to play in the championship.

As much as he, missouri, and a lot of people would like to see that and send a big middle finger to the NCAA, he realizes the money lossed by not sending a florida or uga.

Mizzou doesnt travel well, and everyone knows this.

Mizzou winning the East poses a big problem. First, winning the East probably means at least a New Years 6 bowl. Depending on the polls, if Sankey doesn't let Mizzou play, there is no assurance another SEC team gets that spot which loses the SEC big bowl money.

No one team can stand up to the NCAA alone. But Mizzou makes things really interesting if they have a huge season and it affects CONFERENCE revenue.

My guess is, if Mizzou wins the East, the NCAA backs off the postseason ban in order to not put the SEC in a tough position.

But the appeal should be over before this can happen. IMO the ban is overturned on appeal and all of college football rejoices and breathes a sigh of relief.

Screw appealing. Just shut up and win. Appealing treats the symptoms, winning and putting the SEC in a corner helps solve the NCAA problem.

I gotta disagree here.. You haveee to appeal. what if were a 2 loss team. That may put us out of the big bowls, but Id still love to make it a 11 win season.
