Anybody else listen to what Coach Haith said after the first practice to the media? Thought there was some pretty interesting stuff. He mentioned Wes Clark a lot as a really good player, said he would start at a lot of other programs. Basically said Clarkson will start at point so looks like we will go with a HUGE lineup. Did say Wes will definitely play a lot which will be good for him and for a change of style for the team. Should be a deep group.

Haith also mentioned how long and athletic the team is, that they are a good shooting group and that although the team is fairly young that we have more guys with experience at MU and in the system here. I know you gotta understand the coach speak but he seems pretty optimistic like I am.

Whats your guys thoughts?

Liked what he said, excited about Clarkson, Clark, and Brown.

Got a bit worried when he mentioned Rosburg, if he's getting significant minutes, I'll be worried. Think we're really going to miss Oriakhi. Hopefully Post can be a beast.

I didn't hear it, but thanks for the run down. Sounds promising. What should our realistic expectations be this year? Bout the same as last year? Hopefully a little better without a point guard passing the ball to the audience in the last minute if the game. I'm excited to see what Haith can do with these guys this year. Seems like he's getting good talent.

Ya I agree with you about being excited and optimistic. Really hard to tell what to expect without seeing so many of these guys yet. I do think the SEC as a whole will be better this year tho.

I think the Tourney is a reasonable expectation again for me. Think this team will be much more balanced, should be a better defensive team for sure. Also will be interesting to see life without Flip. He was an amazing passer and got other guys easy things going but at the same time he is the type of talent that dominates the ball. I would expect ball movement to be better and more spread out this year. I'm excited to watch!

Rosburg reminds me of Steve Moore.
I watched him play in High School not to athletic but he gets the job done.

The tournament would be good with me, but we really need to win at least one game once we get there. Get that monkey off Haiths back! Plus that would mean we would probably finish in the top four in league play I would guess.

Roseburg is pretty much nothing like Steve Moore.

Just wasn't impressed last year. Didn't seem very athletic. Seemed a bit stiff. Not overly tenacious. Not anything really, just a blah athlete in general. He's tall.. that's about it. Maybe he'll prove me wrong.

I had read bits and pieces of his comments. Sounds very promising. I'd agree. He seems very high on Clark. The talk about Clark has been going on for some time now so hopefully there is something to it. Was a little concerned when I read somewhere that Clark feels his knee is at 75%, though I guess there's still some time. I think I also read a comment from him about of all people Rosberg's improvement over the summer. I hope that's so and that Post is a player. For me, the kind of season we have will hinge on what we get underneath. We're solid on the wings. PG will be fine between Clarkson and if Clark plays.

Overall, optimistic as well.

You hearing anything more about Gant down there? You had mentioned some buzz about him being pressured to stay home.

He was a bit stiff, but I might disagree with tenacious. He played a role last year eating up minutes, banging some bodies for those few minutes he was in and grabbing some boards. I watched him play in high school a number of times and he certainly seemed athletic in high school but D1 is just a whole different level. Have to remember, he was just a freshman last year too. He isn't a one and done type talent, so it will take him a couple years to really develop IMO.
