He doesn't see the field fast enough and holds onto the ball too long. The throws he stayed in college to prove he could make are in the condensed part of the field. The throws are there to made. By the time he decides to release, the defense is recovering and the target is either drifting back in the zone toward the safeties trying to maintain space or running out of bounds. He has spent time around the Manning's, spent 2 summers with Justin Hoover, and was coached by Huepel. if you don't think Huepel knows how to coach a young quarterback, go take a peek at what he's got a sophomore doing down in Central Florida.
His mechanics on anything less than a full throttle throw are inconsistent at best.
Didnt you think that it was odd that there was very little conceptual expansion of the offense from 2016 to 2017? I don't think it was because Heupel wanted to call bubble screens and 9 routes 30 times a game.

One of the reasons I picked us to be 6-6 was a new OC.
That is why Dooley need more time. Maybe next year if Barry and his coaches are back will be better on offense. But the problem is the current key players will be gone. So if new head coach comes in and we suck 4-8? or something like that? Will that be like Barry would have done worst?

Having two mediocre head coaches is like have two qbs, it means you have none.
