Couldn't agree more. I understand Pinkel's philosophy but personally you can't be nice and play football. The players individually have got to try to take the other teams head off on every single play. Pinkel can manage the score differential by play calling and personnel, but I sometimes I feel we're just "too nice". Apparently, just like us fans.

BTW Tejas down 27-14 at half.

That gives me the warm fuzzies.
And you're right - the players should want to take the other guys' head off every single play. Hit 'em and make 'em stay down. Get in their head and make them quit. Pinkel wants to make sure the other team keeps their dignity - and that's fine after the game. But I wish they'd play a little meaner. No need to let inferior teams think they can hang with us because we take our foot off the gas. That's bitten us in the butt before.

OK, comparing the LSU game to our game, they're putting up the style points. I realize that Pinkel doesn't like to score over 50 unless he needs to, and doesn't like to embarrass anyone. And that's a nice attitude - as long as we get the W, no need to humiliate the competition.
But watching displays like LSU is putting on makes me wonder if that approach doesn't foster the wrong attitude in the team. I don't think our team has that "killer instinct" that the big boys have. I want them to stay humble and hungry, but that desire to put the boot on the opponent's throat and make sure they stay down just doesn't seem to be there.
Thoughts?
That's why I was wondering if it's because it's his former team and he's in Toledo's hall of fame or is he trying to not work the players as hard until SEC play because of the injury situation last year. Get the game in hand and take it easy approach.

That is what Pinkel always does. He doesn't like to humiliate any opponent. If he feels like the game is in hand, he pulls the team back and tells them not to score. Especially if they've scored over 50 - he hates to score more than 50.
Of course, I think he is probably trying to keep them healthy too.

I think that just from a fans standpoint before the season. Anywhere you would go people would talk trash about James Franklin. Now all we hear is about the drops from our WRs. I think JF has really stepped up this year he has had many more on target throws less risky passes and has put the ball in a position for our wide outs to make a play. JF has also seemed to be able to keep this team under control when we were on the brink of disaster (24-23). Granted I understand it's Toledo, not exactly a national powerhouse but their offense is very strong this year.
My point is I was / am not JFs strongest supporter. Hell I was really tough on him but his style of play has really matured. And I am not worrired to be the first to praise him when he performs well. Almost 300 yards of offense from JF alone.
As for our defense. They seemed to stay somewhat true to our bend and not break. They were ok in the redzone. Alot of questions will be answered against Indiana...
