A micro manager wouldn't have given Cross another spring and pre season camp to install Read 2 in the secondary. Odom never coached that scheme at any point in his career as a coordinator or position coach. Cross couldn't make it work and it cost him his job. If you want to fault Odom for not staying with Cover2 and Man, that is understandable, but he let the guys he hired coach their technique.
