With the pitching and timely hitting, this could be a fun season.

Man, Houck is gonna be fun to watch for the next 3 years. The thing I love about baseball, once they choose college, they're hear for 3.

Today:

8 innings pitched. 2 earned runs. 8 strike outs. 0 walks.

The NBA needs to develop the D-league into a more legit minor league and do the same with basketball.

Let's get the brooms out. I'm frickin stoked! My neighbors probably think it's baseball season again. All the windows open and no voice left.

My only gripe is TJ and his insistence on playing Munson. The guy hit .090 over all of last year. He's hitting like .100 this year. If he's that good defensively, play someone else during the game and bring him in late in games for defensive purposes. He's proven over time that he can't hit. It's not just a slump at this point.

There may not be someone ready to fill that hole available. That other kid they were refering to, said he was an offensive machine. He's supposidly due back soon. I don't know his position though.

Your thread got deleted on tRant reedus. There are more then a couple of rustled posters because of Mizzou's start in baseball.

Its pretty funny.

His natural position is the left side of the infield. They say he would have been drafted as a shortstop but wouldn't have been surprised to see him move to 3rd. Strong arm. Good feet. I'd probably prefer him at shortstop for us and move either Lester(currently at 3rd) or Howard(currently at SS) to the outfield in Munson's place.

The kid is Shane Benes. He is the son of former #1 draft pick and MLB pitcher of the Cardinals, Andy Benes. He was team mates with our freshman catcher, Bond, at Westminster and was the better of the two bats all through high school. Bond is currently leading Mizzou in most offensive categories for comparison sake. Benes was the #1 high school player in the state of Missouri last year.

He tore his ACL last winter/early spring playing basketball and needed surgery. Dropped down or out of the draft because of that. Has been rehabbing and should be close to being back. The question will be whether he can get his timing and his bat and his arm into game shape that quickly.

I was getting ready to ask where thread went. What a bunch of little whiny bitches. An active mods thread is deleted? Crap just crap. Jealousy abounds.

Think in April. I would play him too. No sense in redshirting if he's going to go to the draft in 3 years. Better to get 2 1/2 years out of him rather than 2 years. Even if it means he is just a DH.

I started another one. Told people, don't check in here but if you're undefeated in conference play, feel free to chime in.

Got it.

Here's a cookie for you. Found this on PM via Gabe. Article on a future Tiger pitcher.

Graham Ruopp - Notre Dame - Missouri baseball
After making a verbal commitment to extend his baseball career into college, Notre Dame's Graham Ruopp made it official in November by signing a National Letter of Intent with the University of Missouri.

Ruopp committed to Missouri in September, and a number of other schools were in pursuit of his talents, including Western Kentucky, Southeast Missouri State, St. Louis University, Southern Illinois and Belmont University.

"This is the greatest experience I'm going to have for a very long time. I am thrilled," Ruopp said following his commitment. "Every day, I've woken up, and I've just felt like this is my dream come true."

Missouri initially began showing interest in Ruopp during the winter of his junior year and followed his progress throughout spring.

The right-handed ace was 9-1 with a 0.98 ERA as a starting pitcher for the Bulldogs last season. He finished with 70 strikeouts and 16 walks in 57 innings of work and helped lead the Bulldogs to a 21-3 record. Ruopp has a fastball that hovers between 83-87 mph, according to Notre Dame coach Jeff Graviett.

"Graham really solidified himself as a big-game pitcher for us," Graviett said. "He's worked tremendously hard."

Graviett said Ruopp has a unique pitching style with a three-quarter motion, which allows him to get more movement on the ball.

"We knew from a high school perspective that he was going to be successful just by generating that movement," Graviett said. "His bread-and-butter pitch is his fastball. He gets that sinking action on it from the way he throws."

Missouri finished last season with a 20-33 record and was 6-24 in Southeastern Conference play. Graviett said he hopes his players learn from Ruopp about what it takes to make it to the next level.

"It's been a fun ride not only for him but for us as a program," Graviett said. "The best thing we want our kids to learn about this is the hard work he put in to get this opportunity."
