Awfully quiet when it comes to Mizzou @ Media Days. Good sign?

I've been listening to a lot of college sports radio on XM the past couple of days. Seems like a lot of the so called "experts" are saying that the East will come down to UGA and Tenn.

This isn't another disrespect thread. They aren't saying that we suck. They just aren't saying any thing about Mizzou. Being a bit superstitious but it's been a good sign for us the last few seasons.

They don't want to look foolish again. They haven't taken the time to examine our programs history and team. It is pretty obvious.

Good point. We don't have the appeal that the big time programs have. Hopefully we'll continue to improve and get there some day.

Unfortunately, I think they may be right this year.

However, they pick against us every year so they are bound to get it right at some point.

I do look forward to getting updates on Brantley and Steward from GP. Hopefully someone asks the question.

I don't know. I think that we under preformed last year. We should have been an 11-1 team. That Indiana games was inexcusable.

Mauk will come back with more confidence and will be a better leader. Our O-Line is seasoned as well as the secondary. I think the RBs will surprise people.

It's really tough not to set the bar high after the last couple of seasons and not be afraid of a huge let down.

Said it before, will say it again. The only position on the field I think we're worse at this year compared to last is on the DL, which obviously is huge. But the bar was set so high the last couple of years, that being worse doesn't equate to being bad. I don't think Harris and Brady and Frazier are just going to get run over. Hatley and Augusta have experience and will be improved. Losing HB sucks and we'll be worse without him but if TBJ can come in and make an impact right away, it's not like the DL is going to be bad. Just not as good.

QB - Returner will be better if for no other reason than experience.
RB - Assuming Steward/Abbington are what we have seen glimpses of, we have more depth. Losing MM sucks but he wasn't even going to be a RB going into last year. Had Steward been healthy, it would have been Hansbrough, Steward, Witter with some Murphy. This year, it will be Hansbrough, Steward, Abbington, Witter. I think it could be better because of the depth.
TE - Again better if for other reason than experience.
OL - Yes, lost a starting LT. Yes, I hate all the movement right now. But the bottom line is I think we return actually 5 guys with starting experience and 4 regular starters. If the staff is moving them around, I have to believe it is because it makes us better, not worse. I think the OL will be even better with the experience returning.

LB - Will be better because of not just experience but all those backups are now better with experience too and adding all the new talent.
DB - Same can be said for the defensive backs. I think as a whole, our defense is nearly as good if not as good as last year, it's just relying on different aspects of it.
ST - May take a hit here. Really can't replace Murphy in the return game. Having said that, we'll find someone that gets the job done and doesn't cost games.

I just see too many question marks to reasonably think they all get answered positively, or even enough of them do.

QB- Mauk is wildly inconsistent. Way too much down last year. Must improve vastly.

RB- Depth here is a big concern to me if Steward and Abbington can't go. Even if they do you are looking at two guys who really haven't played.

WR- virtually zero experience. Like the talent, just have to see it produce. Iffy at best.

OL- lots of experience and two sure fire Sunday guys, but also aim thinking the coaches did not like what they had at T considering they took two JUCO guys and moved our best interior guy outside. I definitely do not like all of the shuffling here. Cause for concern imo, but a reasonable chance to be a strength if a few things fall into place.

DL- man, big losses here. I have faith in Kul but just seems too much to overcome. Harris better be ready to be a star and TBJ better be ready to be a serious contributor or we may be in trouble.

LB- love our depth, experience, talent. No issues.

DB- maybe our best position group. Think we have two Sunday corners, Simon is a 3 year starter and I think Sherrills can be a superstar. Like the mix of experience and young talent behind them as well. Back 7 is strong and pretty deep.

ST- this is where we will really miss Murphy. He was a game changer. Also a new punter, but that may not be a bad thing.

Hope I'm wrong, but just too many question marks for them all to come up roses imo. If GP can win the East once again it would just be a phenomenal coaching job. Maybe his best ever.

Don't forget our schedule. We have three, what I like to call, "pre-season" games before SEC play starts with UK. We should have a good idea what this team can do after the 4th week.

Don't disagree but I remember a lot of people losing their minds when we lost JMac....I think things turned out OK.

You're being way too pessimistic my friend.

I guess it's possible but let me do it this way:

2015 Mauk > 2014 Mauk
2015 Hansbrough > 2014 Hansbrough
2015 Culkin > 2014 Culkin
2015 McGovern > 2014 McGovern
2015 Boehm > 2014 Boehm
2015 Hall > 2014 Hall
2015 Chappell > 2014 Chappell
2015 McNulty > 2014 McNulty

If guys get moved around from there, it's because it is making us better, not worse.

As for WR's, I agree. Big question mark. But it was a big question mark last year after losing DGB and Copelin along with the seniors that graduated. Someone will catch the ball. Guaranteed.

I certainly hope you are right. I just see a lot of potential issues. We need some guys to really step up.

I hear ya and yes, I'm taking a leap with the staff, especially with the OL. As it stands right now, a guy who started 10 games last year is #2 on the depth chart. I have to believe that is because we are better. If not, they'd leave Chappell at RT, McGovern at RG and McNulty at LG. Who knows, might end up that way yet.

I can't remember. Was McGovern moved back inside from RT to RG because he couldn't play on the edge or was it because Hall couldn't handle it at RG? Or injuries?

Disagree. We should have lost the South Carolina game, so our record was a wash.

I agree. My gut is telling me 2015 could be a little of a letdown.

The Texas players (Pinkel's gold mine) have cycled through and now the leaders will have to be the Maty Mauk's instead of the Marcus Murphy's.

I hope I'm wrong, but I've been fearing / dreading the change in the point of recruiting emphasis from Texas to the Southeast, and now is when we'll start to find out if Pinkel will still have his touch with players from Georgia and Florida.

Maty needs to read his Missouri football history books. " this is not the 60's anymore. Mizzou has emerged" the Tigers were pretty good in the 60's. The 80's were sad not the 60's

I disagree. While I was in shock that we came back and won that game with 6 minutes left, our D was owning them. Our O had a great first drive then couldn't get any thing going. They had a few good drives and scored but their D petered out. We took advantage and earned that win.
