Cream of the crop players, right?
quote:
We never had that here @ Mizzou with any coach in our history a coach who can recruit the entire country, and get top 5 recruits to visit Mizzou
And we never needed to do this to win. Tell me again how Haith's transfers have performed...
quote:
I also don't believe Haith has had time to truly implement his system yet.
Hell, let's make him a lifetime coach. Eventually he'll advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament, right? I mean, it'll happen eventually...right?
quote:
His first year he played a 4 guard lineup, second year had a post game and utilized it, but lacked quality guard play, this year no post play so he ran a lot of iso offense
So essentially Haith doesn't know how to put together a full team that plays as a team.
Gotcha.

Even the best guys can't win if they aren't coached well.
Dude...just stop.

Who are your candidates to replace Haith who will win, remember think sapphire, , emerald in the fricking rough because Alden doesn't even go for diamonds ?
I'll wait remember the qualifications according to Alden's track record Great recruiting ability (i.e. Snyder, Haith) , places importance on graduating players (suitcase) , top assistant usually with no experience, Don't list any big names

Larry Eustachy or Ben Howland come to mind for me. That is with no research on up and comers with HISTORY of success.
Posted on 3/19/14 at 5:08 pm to mizzoukills
Also keep in mind we have never won any championships in the NCAA, NIT, CBI ... If we win the NIT championship will get to hang our first championship banner

You're fighting a losing battle here my man.
"And speaking of snubs, Missouri fans were no-shows again. Perhaps they believed attending a NIT game was somehow beneath them. Maybe there was just so much else happening in Boone County on Tuesday night. Or maybe this is just a mediocre fan base, one that undermines Mizzou’s efforts on the recruiting trail. Prospective MU recruits watching this game on TV could hear basketball dribbles echoing off the empty seats." -Jeff Gordon, STL PD.
Jayhawk fans routinely laughed at us because of all the empty seats at Mizzou Arena long before Frank Haith ever came to Mizzou. For all the logic of those who are boycotting the program (and they do have some logic on their side), the message they are sending is that MU fans don't care, that we're fairweather frontrunners as a fanbase. The attendance says as much or more about us as it does the current coaching regime to other prospective coaches, prospective recruits, and the nation at large.

Larry Eustachy
Would seem like an excellent candidate except for one small problem
On April 28, 2003, The Des Moines Register carried pictures of Eustachy kissing several young women and holding a beer at a party near the University of Missouri's campus just hours after the Tigers defeated Eustachy's Cyclones on January 22. The Register also reported that Eustachy had been seen at a fraternity party at Kansas State hours after his team lost to the Wildcats.[1][2][3][4] On April 30, athletic director Bruce Van De Velde suspended Eustachy with pay and recommended that he be fired for violating a morals clause in his contract. Eustachy held a press conference in which he apologized for his behavior and admitted he'd recently begun rehab treatment for alcoholism.[5][6]
Eustachy initially indicated he would contest the suspension. Instead, on May 5, he announced his resignation.[7]
quote:
Ben Howland
Ben Howland is not a diamond in the rough, and would command entirely too much money for Alden's taste. Keep in mind at UCLA there was an article in sports illustrated about allegation going on within the program. He also made 2.8 million vs. what Haith makes 1.6 million
Problems in UCLA basketball program under Ben Howland
I believe in second chances, but Alden would never stake his reputation on hiring another coach with baggage after Haith issue, Snyder, ...

I saw that the NIT tries to make everything neutral so that is why there was no intro, halftime show, etc.

We must have a lot of entitled fans amongst us, given we are a blue blood, NOT!. We are a solid program but have nothing really to hang our hats on lately that's for sure.

Perfect! Haith is going to have to revert to having assistants pay for recruits again because our fan base thinks the NIT is above them. NEWSFLASH! It's not we hang banners for it so we must be proud of it or we wouldn't continue to accept bids so how about supporting our team in the post season tournament.

I already know this. I graduated Mizzou in 2002. And who cares? Eustachy had a drinking problem. He got help, he coaches now and is doing well. He beat Haith last year, although I believe Colorado St had a down year this year.
Anyway those were my two off the top of my head. Anything further would require more research on my part, and that is Alden's job, not mine.

I was simply pointing out they both had baggage, and had Eustachy done this on another campus he might very well be a good candidate, but it happened on our campus. I'm happy he's doing better, but Alden quite possibly would have his job on the line if he were to hire another coach and wouldn't chance it.

"If" Haith fails to make the tournament next year the candidates at the top of my list would be
Mick Cronin Cincinnati head coach (probably out of reach)
Steve Fisher San Diego State
Dave Paulsen Bucknell
Ed Cooley Providence
Tommy Amaker (probably out of reach)
Shaka Smart VCU (my dream)

2 more years of Haith. Learn it, live it, like it.
Posted on 3/19/14 at 6:49 pm to TigerBornTigerBred
I can learn it...but I don't have to live with it or like it. Guess I'll find something else to do until his departure....

I don't like it either but we're stuck with him, I bitched for a while but nothing we can do as long as Alden is AD.
